    Hey Everyone,

There is a guy in my area selling a pair of 6th gen oem side bags and all the mounting hardware. Does anyone know if this will fit my '98 without having to do any mods ( I am not the best at that).

    Thanks-:vader:

I too am intertested in an answer to that question. I'm not concerned with doing some mods as long as it won't require a re-design of the whole shooting match, lol.....

Just by looking at the photo of your bike's passenger footpeg hangers and your rear fender mount, i would have to say that, no, they will not work without a little handy work on your part. I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure they won't.

Yes it can be done, but does require a few mods. There is a thread with pics on VFRD...

Oem 6th Gen Bags On My 5th Gen - VFRD

If it were me I'd make the adapters out of stronger metal, by the way...
    Hope this helps.

EXCELLENT link winaje!!!!!!!!!!!! That is JUST what I was hoping for...
I look at mods like that as "no mods" in my book. No reshaping (or minimal) of bodywork, no removing/deleting factory parts... Very nice... Now to find some factory 6th Gen bags and mounts... My wife would REALLLLLY like a backrest...lol...

Dualcert, bear in mind that the link does NOT include the trunk/topbox... I would definitely look at a much stronger mounting system if I were putting the trunk on too. I have a 6th Gen with full luggage, and the entire rear subframe is totally different, as it has been designed from the ground up to take the weight and stresses that full luggage places on it. Whilst not trying to discourage you in any way, all I'm saying is have a good think about the total effect adding the luggage will have on the subframe etc.

I know what you mean about the backrest; my wife won't get on te bike unless the topbox is mounted.

Thanks for the suggestions and the link. That looks like a "mod" I can actually do.... This sight has been a wealth of info. I found another link that shows how to lower my bike without spending time and money. Woo Hoo!!
