I'm kicking around the idea of adding a cigarette lighter adaptor this winter, to charge a phone, run GPS, stuff like that. Anyone add one to an 8th gen with some useful tips on placement?
    Thanks

I used a double USB port instead of a cigarette lighter but wiring should be the same or very similar (I dunno if it's necessary but I tried to ensure that polarity was correct):

I used a 4 pin connector (you only need wires to 2 of the pins) and ended up connecting it to the OEM accessory connector under the seat (I'm not sure if a standard model 8th gen has that or not):

Some plastic hose to help protect the wires:

I mounted mine in the same position as Rambler358 did:

But I think others have also attached their ports/cig lighters to either the right or left side of the tank, cutting out holes in the plastic covers next to the tank...

Excellent Samuel - really appreciate the links and description.

I'm not going to drill any holes in the bodywork, so a handlebar mount looks like the way to go.
