Are you talking about a real electronic cruise control? If so take a look at:

    Honda-VFR-series-cruise-control

For less money people have adapted an Audiovox automotive cruise control to their bikes:

Installing an Audiovox Cruise Control on an FJR1300

If you are looking for something more simple take a look at:

    Vista-Cruise

NEP Cruise Control CC-3 Dual Cable Honda - Handlebars/Controls

    Throttlemeister - Home

There is a huge range of pricing, complexity, etc. I'd love the MCCruise but can't justify that kind of money on it. I'm using the Throttlemeister and it works great as a throttle lock, but it requires adjustment as you encounter hills, wind, etc as you're riding down the road.

Britt got them all, There are no limit as long as you have a big wallet :)
Welcome to the forum and good luck on your new mod. BTW I used the NEP cheap and effective.

    Cheers

I've heard great things about the Audiovox cruise control, since it should maintain speed very well.

Does anyone know if the Brakeaway Cruise Control would work on the VFR? I have one on the VTX and it's awesome. Easy to engage and disengages with a touch of the front brake or the disengage switch. Pricey, but was a fairly easy install.

I have the Vista but I think Long's NEP is a better design. The vista is in the way of the starter button.

I believe you can get the Audiovox in either a vacuum operated and, for a little bit more, an all electronic version.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks a lot for your thoughts, much appreciated... I'm not sure which way i will go yet but will let you know...

As general background; This is my 1st VFR ('01 with 28,000km) I saw her at auction on ebay last week and fell in love. Next week i fly to across country to pick her up and ride back (approx. 5,500km) (miles?) Should be interesting as i'm used to short trips (400k) on the comfy but slow R80...

Air hawk is meant to be awesome for long trips but so-so in the twisties. Do not inflate it too much though or they are inaffective. Where are you picking her up from?

    Hi VFRod,
I pick her up from the Gold Coast then down to Melb. for the Aust. Masters to watch Tiger tee it up and then home across the nullabour... Just in time for the rego, bit of a pain buying interstate but u don't do it every day.
The Air Hawl will be getting an honest try out!

    Brakeaway Cruise Install

Newbie here. Picked up my 'new' 2007 VFR a month ago - zero miles. Could not be happier. Installed a new Sargent seat and cruise control.

I installed the Brakeaway Cruise Control last week. It works flawlessly, clears tank by 3/16th inch, and required fabricating one small piece for mounting to clear the throttle lines. It does not have it's own application, but the Suzuki Bandit application works because the 1 3/16th inch grip diameter is the same. Brakeaway is reluctant to offer help or advice beyond what I've stated because they like to see 1" minimum clearance and probably have some legal reasons as well. If you have any serious interest, email me and I can provide more detail. But it can and does work nicely, albeit spendy, on a VFR. The CNC aluminum looks incredibly classy as well.

    Update 3/3/11 - Thought I would add a photo...

Glad to hear you got the Brakeaway adapted to the VFR! It's a slick little piece, isn't it?

This is the one that I have. Its great for a cheap non electronic one. keep in mind though that its a little tricky to get an exact speed. the great thing about it is you can adjust it slightly without having to unlock it. I did have to cut a bout a half a centimeter off of my hand grip to make it fit and allow the accel to snap back.

just remember that with a throttle lock other than an electronic one, if you go up hill, you slow down, if you go down hill you speed up.

so basicially if you are in kansas you will have no problem

I bought a KAOKO throttle lock, from Twisted Throttle, about a month ago. Already used it on a couple of trips...Love it! Easy to install and built to last:

It looks much better than the stock photo.

Thanks for your post. Can you also post a pic of the piece you needed to fabricate to make the Brakeaway cruise control fit? A friend has a Throttlemeister on his 2005 Triumph, and neither he nor I have been particularly impressed with it. The Brakeway looks to be a much better solution ... and easy to fit ... if only they made a specific one for the VFR!

Hey - Can't really post a picture without disassembling the install. It basically looks like a link out of a chain, with a hole at each end large enough for the screw. I tried to attached a couple photos for clarity - hopefully that helps. Good luck!
