I store my bikes in a storage unit in town. To avoid pulling the batteries and bringing them home, I thought a portable DC-to-DC battery tender may be ideal. Something like a lithium-ion battery jumper which also have smart tender capability. After a lot of searching and failure to find anything, I thought I would ask here.

I haven't heard of anything like that, but a portable jump battery pack is going to be your best friend.

Do you have access to a window ? If so how about a solar charger.

Thank You Jyno. I have a portable jump start pack, but it isn't very smart, and I'm trying to avoid the batteries going down to the point I need it.

Hi Jink. This is a typical outdoor storage facility with units in a row that I rent an 8x10 unit. No windows in any of them. I can barrow power from the owner in an emergency via extension cord, but not a constant loan and solar is out of the question at this stage due the structural support, permits and liabilities, but Thank You for the suggestion.

How many bikes do you have in storage? How long do you store them? Do you start them at all during their time in storage? I would think that if you are going to store any of them for any length of time, just disconnect ground side of the battery, and carry your jump start pack when it is time to get them out of storage, just in case. Battery should be OK unless it is old. They make oversized batteries for cell phones that will recharge them, your idea of a DC to DC unit is logical, but only necessary for a short time when you go to restart them, and you have one those already.

Thank You, I'm aware of the options. I'm seeking a convenience, that appears not to be available.

i dont like to leave any battery charger-maintainer connected for more than a couple days if un attended.i've found that even a small battery tender-maintainer can over
cook a battery if left connected for too long.have also seen solar chargers that can cause a drain when the sun is not out .

Like you I leave one of my bikes parked for long periods. When I park the bike I estimate when I'll be getting back to it. If it's going to be less than 6 months I'll just disconnect the battery terminals, this has worked every time on the eventual restart. If it's going to be more than 6 months I take the battery out of the bike and care for it at home.
