Gear wine (or even whine), not chain rattle.

    Believe it or not

I actually voted gear driven on this one. Yeah, yeah, ive a 6th gen. And had trouble with the gear cams on my old vfr 700.

But honda sorted out that problem, and it is a tradition, something that just should come with a VFR - even if there is no real advantage.

Its like popcorn at the movies. Why popcorn?

They just go together thats why.

Having said that - there is nothing wrong with chain. Some people love knocking what they dont have.

You guys are going to make me say it AGAIN?!

Gears, gears, beautiful gears. And they are MORE reliable IMO than chain and tensioner.

Nothing beats a little gear hum below 7K PRM and its beautiful bark then snarl of exhaust note drowning out the gears working up to 10K and the off to the red-line.

    Ohhhh.... I think I just soiled myself.

I still have my 1986 VFR700F2 so I get all the gear noise I need. Gears are cool. I miss the fine wine. Cause the 06 is so much quicker and faster. i DON'T RIDE IT AS OFTEN. I am taking the 06 to work today cause I only work half days on Friday.

gear is my choice nothing compares to the superiority of a gear driven cam drive, nothing in my opinion honda only needed to give us more cc,s and leave a perfect thing perfect they created the ultimate engine with gear-driven cams ,the old sayings is this ,if it isn,t broke dont fix it they fixed it and fucked up trying to please the e.p.a. before considering moving awaying from a perfected design to to a good design thst is inferior to the previous design, stupid i hope they dont make any more dumb mistakes,a 1000cc v-moto would not compete with the pure sport bikes only strengthen the position of honda sport tourers among the other brands.which are mosly 1000cc or more, the tour part seems to get lost when they make decisions the extra power for two up riding is one reason they needed 1000cc,s,bags luggage extra weight leave the vfr underpowered next to the competitors.
