After 15 years without a bike I'm getting back into game. Signed up for a refresher motorcycle class with Team Oregon, but what bike to get? As a Yamaha fanboy to the bone in my early days of riding, I was leaning towards a Yamaha R3, but a ride last August on my friends 2014 VFR800 plus a local buying opportunity changed that.

Picked up a used 2014 VFR800 in white with 1800 miles on it for a really good price three weeks ago. I've ridden it three times, and the grin factor it provides is growing more infectious every time I swing a leg over it. I hope to use the forum to gain more insight into the bike, as I tend to do my own maintenance to save money and learn my bike.

Thanks for allowing me to be a member of the forum.

Hi and welcome to the Madhouse

Nice to see the 8th Gen working its magic - that VFR smile is infectious as is the sound of a V4 at full chat!

Hopefully Diving Pete and I will be crossing the pond to LA and hope to meet up with Long, Stuka and other members of the West Coast posse for a ride out or two around memorial weekend. If you are around then, maybe keep an eye out for posts about a meet up for a few rides and perhaps a beer or six.

    Take care ATGATT

Bought my '14 DLX used too back in Dec 14, you got a bike with a lot of life left in it. You will thoroughly enjoy it, even more so when you get a decent set of tires on it (assuming at 1800 mi the original OEM tires are still on it), like Michelin PR4's.

I have Bridgestone Battlax TF-30's on it. I presume they're the OEM fitment. I've not had any issues with them to date. However if there's a preferred tire that's better, I'll be up for changing when these wear out.
