    +1

I've used bearing grease before on a set of o-ring gaskets on my 400/4 and this worked fine.

    That's not a VFR750.

Float bowl gaskets for the VF750 don't fit the VFR750

Here's my order, they were exact fit for my 87 VFR700.

#BG-2675 from CRC2 worked for my 86 VFR750FG when I replaced two of my float bowl gaskets.

I guess it was a combo of staying up too late/breathing in too much gas fumes when I was cleaning out the other set of carburetors- or those carbs were different.

The K&L's worked on this set last night though.

I gave BillyC the money already....I'm just waiting for him to get the Valve Float Assys in stock.

Bike would start when I tried to ride it to my storage place....had to boost it. Was ok after that.....guess it's just a crappy new battery.

A lot of work to do to the bike over winter with a cold cramped place to do it in.

Nope. It's currently in a family members garage....stuck in a corner.

when I need to work on it I'll call ahead and go there with (hopefully a space heater) and my tools and do what needs to be done.

A space heater sounds like a definite must have. It is mighty hard to focus on turning a wrench when your toes are cold!

    Uuuuuuuugggghhhhhhhh :frown:

Alright. So the bike is stored for the winter. Have it in my fathers garage for a few weeks now. The battery that I bought new as of July is Kaput. Bike needs boosting now.

Last week I went to change the oil in the bike for storage. I hooked the bike up to my cars battery and tried starting it........no good. Just cranks.
I pulled the plugs and they were all fouled and wet. I cleaned them and tried again.....still wouldn't start. Pulled the plugs and they were wet again.

FUDGE IT! I'll leave the old oil in there. I pulled the tank and the carbs and took them home.

I haven't heard from BillyCarr in a while. Hasn't returned my e-mail. He has my float bowl o-rings and float assys on order.

I looked in the tank and I think the coating in there is making the fuel level sensor act up. i gotta take a look at that too.

I hope my dads garage burns down.

bird, i feel your pain. if it makes you feel better, my 1st Gen fork seals began leaking - again! i think the fork tubes must have been tweaked and straightened - sort of. Ack!

dunno about yours not starting. sometimes a poor battery or sketchy connection on a jump doesn't produce enough juice to start the bike, even though it turns over like a champ. or sometimes you're just screwed.

Well it's been awhile. New job has me busy and it doesn't allow me the freedom to surf the web while on the clock like my last job.

Bike is packed away and I can't work on it. Carbs are sitting in my basement along with the Gas tank and the plastics.

Haven't heard back from billycarr in months. I already paid him and he isn't returning my e-mails.
Looks like i have to buy a float valve assy from Honda ($50) and hopefully that fixes the overly rich issue on that one cylinder. (i already forgot which one)

Plus i still need to find new o-rings for the float bowls. (may go to honda for them too....pay the money and get it right the first time, I figure)

On top of that the bike needs a new chain, atleast a front tire, most likely another new battery, new plugs again (once i get the carbs set right) and other stuff.

I picked up a float level gauge on ebay.....hopefully i can set everything myself when i get some parts.

Just lookin forward to some warmer weather.

Are you thinking that the battery will need replacement because your didn't bring it indoors and onto a tender or because it was dying before you put the bike away?

Don't worry, we'll be riding again in no time. I find that the older I get the faster time goes by...

    Hey, Matt, hang in there.

The float bowl gaskets for your bike that are non-Honda are from K&L Supply #18-2675 and run about $38/set of 4.

Batterys are like girlfriends: they don't like to be neglected for long, and require periodic injections of fresh juice to be kept at their most responsive level.

Dookie, what problems were you having with the bowl gaskets you ordered? I remember you thinking they were incorrect at first?

    Part # BG-2675 ??

I think they are the same as the ones Dookie mentions....though I cant find them on any K&L website.....got a link Squirrel?

A few reasons I think I'll need to replace the battery:
    - It was a cheap battery
    - The bike wouldn't start when I went to ride it to the storage place
    - I left it there on the bike when I put it away and it's been sitting in the bike in the cold this whole time
    - It was dead the last time I checked. :frown:
