Hello, I'm new to the site and am picking up my new VFR on Friday. I do around 15000 miles a year and i know that Honda do a pre-paid service plan for £599.
Has anyone had one of these and are they worth it? Been quoted £150 for the 600 mile service so looks like it might work out cheaper for the 3 services over the next 12 months

Depends on how often they permit the 16,000 mile valve clearance check in the price

First service is only oil and filter change ...check nothing's fallen off, etc

    Is that £599 per annum?

I'd say not worth it, you're going to need new front brake pads at 14-18,000 which is the time to put some decent stainless steel Pistons in, change the seals etc (there's a thread about it, contact Powerhouse for them), that is assuming you can do it or can find someone who'll charge less than the dealer, changing 12 seals and pistons isn't difficult but it can take a long time and at a dealer you have a meter running from the moment the guy picks up the job sheet

Presumably you want the dealer stamps for when you sell it, the 8,000 & 16,000 service together shouldn't cost £600

Phone your dealer tomorrow and ask what they charge

The £599 is for upto 27 months and the first three services which I'll be doing in about 14 months.
I asked my local dealer and they said 'around' £150 for the 600 and £450 for the 16000 which would sort of make it worth it if I effectively get an 8000 for next to nothing.
These costs are for the basic scheduled items inc brake fluid, anything wear and tear is extra.

In that case it sounds OK

27 months but basically only 2 services when you get to 24 & 32,000?

Hello and welcome to VFRWorld! Is the service plan time based only? Meaning does it expire if you hit a certain mileage first?

    Thanks for the welcome!
The plan is for up to 27 months and is for the 600, 8000 & 16000 mile services only - mine would all be done in about 14 months. It includes the service scheduled items inc brake fluid but not anything extra.
Seems ok to me, just wondered if anyone else had done it

Never had a service plan for mine. I do have a friend who used it st1300. It was his only source of transport and he clocked up about 1500 miles a month all year round, so for him it was beneficial.

I went ahead and bought the plan at £599 for the 600/8000/16000 services.

I was quoted between £110 and £180 for a 600 mile and, after talking to my local dealer reckoned that it would be cheaper.

Had the 600 done yesterday and shaould have it in for the 8000 around March r just before

See when you get your 16K service ask for all the shim sizes and gaps on both the normal and vtec side. That way you will know they have been checked and done. it also gives you a note of what is in the bike when you come to do the 32k service.
