I have a 86 with 28,000 or just over that now. I was just wondering how well the first gens hold up on long trips. I am planning one this summer.

I have an 86 vf500 with 40,000 on it, still runs perfect. I havent had it long so I cant exactly say the condition of the inside engine because I havent had it apart yet, but overall it runs great. I guess it all depends on how the bike was treated throughout its years.
A well taken care of and well maintnenced bike will last alot longer than one that has been rode hard and hung up wet if you know what I mean...

Where are you planning to ride to this summer jake? If you are coming out west towards the mountains let me know and we can hook up and ride through the blue ridge parkway or something, I do not plan on doing any overnighters but I can meet you and cruise the parkway together.
I might possibly be going to ride the tail of the dragon in tenesse sometime this summer also.

sorry for the off topic post....

My origanl plan for the summer was to go to Chattanuga, TN for a S.T.A.R. bike rally but my boss nixed that idea when he denied my vaction i know have to find something new to do. The BR parkway is on the list of possible destinations.

06 with 89,500 km.That's about 55,600 miles. I don't think mine is going to make it to be 23 years old.

91 VFR 750/73,000 and going strong. Bikes goes its top speed same as the day I bought it, which is 150mph. Ride it once or twice a week and cruise over 100mph. Replaced: Stator, entire clutch with springs and steels, new fork seals, rebuilt shock twice, high beam relay, built front calipers. Other than that just basic maintenance. Have steering head bearings but waiting to do that. I luv my VFR!

I'm knocking on 100,000 miles on my '85 R. I put 13,000 on it the first 6 months I had it. It had 0 when I picked it up new.

wow. you all have alot of riding under your belts. i've only put 3000 miles on mine in 5 months. i wish i could ride more but i find it hard having two kids and being a meat manager. hopefully i can take a trip with it this summer and put some serious miles on her.

my '02 that i purchased new in '04 just turned over 64,000 on the clicker. now remember, these are "honda miles." as bad as the speedometer is, I often wonder how inaccurate the odometer might be.

'02, a smidge over 10,000 mi. Yeah, it's a baby, but with a little luck it'll be 20,000 at the end of '10.
