That prototype V4's tank is for storing Jo-jo's. The fuel and oil are carried by the rider wearing a leathers that have a five gallon fuel bladder, a six quart oil bladder and an airbag.

Now if somebody could just come up with a way to put all that liquid shit ya gotta have on a bike someplace other than a tank, that would be a doozy.

Shit!! Not a whisper of an Elvis cover but for the really hard core cash dudes, there is a cover by "The Hampsters". I'm thinking they were one of those alternative groups.

no kidding, Dave. It would be a fun one, though. I actually heard the 2012 VFR is still waiting for me today. I really like that one because it has the aftermarket pipe and very low miles. Honestly the pipe is about the only thing I hated about the bike when I test rode it way back when. It's just so big. I'm at the point now where I'm trying to decide exactly what I want. I really love my VFR and so I want to stick with the moniker but I am just having trouble committing. I still am pretty fond of adventure bikes and off road, too. I think I can get by with 3 bikes although 4 might be better.

Fate?? Go offer a grand less than what they're asking. If they say yes, it was meant to be.

Maybe Reg can get Volfy to broker an even better deal than a paltry grand. This calls for a real wheeler-dealer. Being the bike is in the East those guys back there go for that forsooth and varlet stuff bigtime.

Keep in mind that Big Jim has a Norton complete with the Prince of Darkness kit and works at a dealership. A subtle sales pitch maybe?

I somehow managed to slip by the pitch!! Lol
The bikes he mentioned were all in play when I was in the market.
They were researched and not considered.
V tec generation VFR was slammed in articles I read when the bike first came out.
Bike .. Britains top selling motorcycle mag scores the bike a 5 out of 5 ... They don't
Score many that way. The reference to heavy does not accurately describe
What the bike feels like while riding. Hondas done an incredible job
Centrelizing the weight to balance the bike.
NSX and the Nissan GTR have price tags and performance to match
The Euro cars. The VFR tops the euro competition in many ways.
I love love love this bike. 18,000 kms later I love it more and more.
Get in and score a deal.

LOL.. I have one already. Read most of the "reviews that were about 90% BS by dudes that had never done much than maybe seen the bike much less road tested one. Those press party functions at famous race venues are choreographed as well as the Rockettes at Radio City in NY. Booze, food, dragging out old time racers and engineering dudes who would rather be figuring out how to make things better than do dog and pony.. Even a whiff of pussy at some.. Umbrella girls without umbrellas..

Brit mags tend IMO to tell it like it is calling a spade a spade or even calling a spade a POS..

If weight was or is that much a factor then my call is don't even ride one.. Problem solved. Get an 800lb Harley, a Goldwing, a bigass BMW touring cruiser or Lord help us all, a Rune..

The only dude here that had any real experience when the bike came out of the chute was Reg.. He called it right mainly because the ride was heavily chaperoned. Now that the prices have leveled out Reg is in the market. Than makes him smarter than I am because I paid a shitload of money for mine. But I have been riding mine too.

Bottom line on this deal is that all the whiners were mentally comparing the 1200 to all the rest of that generation stuff that is a load of hooie to begin with. Bought my 91 brand spanking new. Still got it. Best bike I have ever had. I'll let ya know how the 1200 fares on that scale in about 17 years. I may change my mind though..;)

Bikes are more fun than cars.. My cage is a bigass gas gobbling, Cleveland engined, auto trannied Ford Explorer. Got a really old Merc too with a small block Chevvy in it. That's my sportscar eater.

Agreed!!! The Brits can sometimes be a tiny little bit biased on
British built bikes but even then they cal a spade a Pos. Getting a deal is important but in the years it's taken to
Accomplish your mission you could have
Missed out on some epic road trips and experiences.
In the mean time you could have also been struck by a falling
Piano being moved into a NY third floor balcony by crane.
I am a honda dealer on the car side and do my best to time the deal... But that can
Make you go nuts. Price goes down .. Time goes by... Coulda woulda shoulda...
    Must be replaced by GOTTA!!!
I love VFR world and get some great advice and feedback
But with great respect to the original question posed ...
Opinions are like assholes everyone has one.
Time to buck up and dust it off brother.
The road waits for no man!!! The dough matters but the epic
Memoirs and pictures I have cannot be valed. Just because other VFR
Owners love their generations does not make the 7th Gen any less epic.
I watched a nine minute review on you tube on the 10 VFR.
The title is I hate the new VFR.
This fargin arsehole spent more time talking about his socks then he did
The bike. He hated the looks. How large an opinion must you have about yourself to
Tell me what is pleasing to the eye ...22 times !!
Check out some pictures posted on VFR world and tell me
The bike is not an awesome looking machine.
Regardless ... Consider the source I guess.
Then do what you want ... Not what some stranger tells you
    To!! Enjoy.

    Five star

Bike Magazine scores the Vfr 1200 5 out of 5 stars.
Calls it the definitive sports tourer.
Of all the street bikes available for sale in Britain
They only scored eight other bikes 5 of 5

    Multi Strada
    NC 700s
    ZZR 1400
    Ninja ZX 10 R
    Ninja ZX 6R 636
    KTM 990 adventure
    Speed Tripple R
    Daytona 675
    .
The market sweet spot gets nailed down and they'll move.
I guess the guy reviewing his socks on line
May have had an axe to grind and a head to pull out of his ass.

A little different than back in the day when the non-chipped, non-fuel injected, non-megabuck valve train VFR's scored most of the points worldwide.

I bought a new 2013 last week. It was a hard decision because of price and the lousy resale. In the end I decided to trade in my 08 FJR (great sport touring bike). The fact that I won't see many other VFR12's doesn't bother me in fact I like it. I usually make projects out of new bikes but I think this one will be confined to a set of Heli bars, a Akraspovic slip on and a Bazzaz Z bomb. Thats pretty mild for me. e

do the 2012 and '13 need the Z bomb?? has the traction control eliminated the need for the 1st and 2nd timing retard?? and was it re mapped from 2010 specs ?? i would def do a PC V or Bazzaz Zfi fuel module to get the EPA leanness out of it, but not sure if a z bomb is needed...i guess someone who has ridden a stock '10 would have to compare a '13.... and i have no regrets spending the extra $$ for the Akro quality...very nicely made pipe

Congratulations on the new ride. The VFR1200 is a fantastic bike. I think it's funny that you make projects of new bikes. I buy project bikes and try to make them look new! My 5th gen VFR was the first bike I ever bought that needed nothing (except a seat.)

Sounds like Dynajohn is of the "stockers suck" squad. Rather than the militia who all dress the same according to the rules set forth by Minnie Pearl.

Nice VFR there Jim. Looks as if you needed a few bungee cords too and maybe a wash job..
