Just read something kinda spooky on a European forum, they say from what they've seen and heard, yep it's a 1000cc but it's also a 100lbs heavier something in line with a sporty ST, Oooo yuk... ok fingers crossed it's coming down to the wire. LOL

Right now, I'm just happy to hear it's not dead. Guess we'll know tomorrow or Friday.

If this is the case.....well then I'm glad that I've been upgrading my 4th Gen. I personally don't want heavier, and more touring oriented. I want lighter, and more sport oriented. I know we all have different wants and needs, so some may actually desire this, not me. I'd be happy with a new CBR with a V-4, but then what would one call it, CBR or VFR, as I thought VFR stood for V Four...although I could also be wrong here as well.

What I can't figure out is why this silly countdown timer is on the SpeedTV website & not the official Honda website? If it's so important, why isn't Honda hyping it as well?

Now what would be in hondas best interests is to take a look at the early Interceptors...The originals started out as racing bikes...and eventually evolved into a mini gold wing...now...thats possably why the poor sales..no one wants another tourer..they want something more like the CBR but with V4 power...Honda if you really care about your customers pay attention to what we all buy...make the next VFR if there is one worthy of the Interceptor name.

Do you think it's possible the "Dream Machine" (on Speed TV) they are referring to is a new Honda superbike? I mean it does link to a albeit non-informational flash on Honda's website.

My guess is the new V4 superbike is as shown in Japan mags and possibly there are variations of the same platform, changing a full superbike to Sport tourer configuration? (which carries VFR?). wouldn't that be nice ;)

If I were in charge, I would make TWO SEPARATE models.

    1. VFR800RR: SSSA, 450lbs wet, 150-160 (more maybe?) HP with gear driven cams, super sport ergos & super sport tires, fully adjustable suspension. This bike would basically be a race bike with a SSSA & a V4. The 450lbs would be achieved via a smaller fuel tank, no passenger seat/pegs, lighter weight wheels.

    2. VFR800ST: SSSA, 500lbs wet, 140-150 HP also with gear cams, current VFR ergos, fully adjustable suspension adjustable windscreen. The extra 50lbs would be from a 5.5gal fuel tank, passenger seat/pegs.

Until the public gets over the juvenile obsession with more power = better bike, don't ever expect Honda to concentrate on anything other than race replicas.

Just a possibility based on nothing but maybe Honda is going to release the next VFR as a V5 with 1000cc's.

Like the Gen 5 new in '97 which used the old WSB engines machine tooling for the VFR's 800cc engine they will convert some of the old MotoGP 990cc engine tooling for the new VFR1000RR / ST engine ?

Note - the Gen 5's v4 is different to the Gen 4's engine.

Bastards it's the Gen 6 with an "all new" Grey paintjob, oh well at least we can give up speculating for another 12 months.

How boring!!! I'm not liking the looks of any of the 2008 models, especially the CBR1000RR. Who'd they put in charge of the design teams, the same people that brought us the Gremlin, Pacer, and Chrysler K cars??? Totally drab, no style, just blah. This quote really kills me..."it will soon be clear to our customers that Honda understands their needs better than any other manufacturer in the side by side market."

I got that from superbikeplanet.com.....link below....

    Couple comments ...

#1 - As dissappointed as I am with the 2008 VFR announcement, I'm happy that it's still in the lineup. But why only one color? Don't they usually offer two? And why does it have to be a color that will blend in with its surroundings?

#2 - several of you mention seeing the 2008 CBR1000RR, but I can't find pics of it in any of the links in this thread. Did Honda pull the images? In fact, I don't even see mention of it in the releases link.

I agree, the 1000RR is one step from looking like "dog poop." Yuck...GP tail, and ugly, nasty exhaust.
