The affected areas of the direct impact zone of the cat 4 cyclone has now subsided, thankfully. They can get on with helping people now. The ex-tropical cyclone now a Low depression is moving SE affecting new areas inland, SE coastal Queensland and this morning into North East New South Wales (where I'm located). I'm staying put, the creeks and rivers are flooding. It's been torrential rain since early morning and the latest, another +200 mm of more rain here. My driveway crosses a creek that runs through my property, the causeway is flooded. Don't think I'll be riding the VFR on Sunday... Maybe I'll have to take the XR400 out! ;-)

Here's a few video weather reports on the cyclone and then ex cyclone's impacts to come. Much easier to share these than type...

Adding: apart from property damage, it's estimated over $1billion in crop losses.

Debbie Does Bowen, she has a bad reputation, I hear she gives one hell of a blow job. She looked quite pretty from above.

    Thanks AM,

snapped it on the way back from New Guinea to Sydney. I hadn't planned to be flying at the time, particularly as my original ticket had me transiting through Brisbane, but things rarely go to plan with travel in the highlands, so we ended up four days late back in Port Moresby and as we had been watching the storm system developing I managed to change my flights to go direct to Sydney. My colleague lives in Townsville so he couldn't get home as the airport was already closed for the duration. He got into Cairns instead and got home by road as the roads north of Townsville were clear.

You know how people like to play, swim, ride surfboards in floodwaters? Well this is what emergency services workers found stranded on the mud in what was a flooded area after Cyclone Debbie passed. A bull shark, responsible for more shark attacks in Australia.

Those poor people...where will they all go if they can't get to other family or friends?

This is definitely a weather event they will not forget. Hope there just aren't any deaths.

I hope these people know or are directed to designated flood refuge shelters or known flood safe areas. There are a large number of tourists always in our region who would definitely be in need of good information as to where to stay safe. Fingers crossed for everyone. Flooding is always the most dangerous outcome of these serious weather events, for injuries and deaths, I hope everyone stays safe.

I just the other day described in a tyres thread, the road conditions in this region where I ride, blind corners, water seepage and debris on the roads. Luckily I haven't encountered this much debris! LOL

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie is still looking like a cyclone, with plenty of rotation and an eye (located just above Eagleby). She's probably going to pass right over Murwillumbah, with even more rain approaching Northern Rivers with the addition of damaging winds. Unbelievable!

Went out on the XR400 to check creek crossings and roads this morning. I could only ride out past my causeway (1st photo) a few km on the roads before they were impassable. The road flooding is an indicator that the bridges have raging water over them a little way further on. The 2nd photo, the water was about 1.5 metres higher during the night, floods quick and goes down quickly around here. All this water will end up raising the flood levels in Lismore, which have yet to peak, already overtopped the flood levee. The last photo was taken from one of my paddocks near my home, it's great to finally see sunlight after weeks of rain.

WUT?!! That's crazy! Around here it's deer, out west it's stock, in mountains rock and ice and various animals, on coast it's ocean wave washing your car out. But those are sometimes. This looks like an all the time issue. Gives me an idea for a thread...
