Oil Consumption opinions

So I now have about 3300 miles on the girl, yesterday during my walk around I checked the oil (try to once a week) and it was a little low, as in just below the bottom line on the sight glass. I added perhaps a 1/6 of a quart or so and brought it back to middle of the two lines.

Question is, how many miles will you experience some oil consumption. I had the first service at 600 miles so I have about 2700 spirited/hard miles on her. Im not worrying as the upper RPM's I spin her at often will result in this. Just curious what others have seen.

My Miata for example uses a 1/4 quart a week (600 miles) but in the morning commute at 5am I run a good clip down the highway and she stays at 5-6k for a good while, so again I don't really sweat it.

2200 miles since last oil change, level is just below upper line, hardly any change. (18,000 total)

 

I've also never had to add oil to any bike I've owned in 33 years (between services).

108000km on my 01, and oil level never changes between services.
I fill to the top line, and 10K later is still there, and I ride mine hard.
I know it's not an 8th gen, and I'm also not sure if this model has the sintered metal sleeves like the 5th G.
But also keep in mind that some oil use in modern engines is considered normal.

 

Now we need to hear from the users of K&N filters..LOL

 

Technically the oil is still filtered however... just not retained in the engine

 

Have had to put 200ml in and that was around the 6k miles mark after 2x 450 mile motorway slogs and a tour round France twos up and fully loaded. Apart from that nothing since, bar normal oil changes have just over 16 k miles now and about to embark on a long weekend exploring Ireland next week. Mines 2014 8th gen

 

Thanks for the replies. I will keep an eye on things. It was a minimal amount, and only the 1st oil change since the 600 mile service and I do ride her hard.
