    No planes usually are dots or dashes across the sky during long exposures, its from their flashing strobe lights that are pretty bright. The much lower intensity running lights can leave long solid trails but your camera has to be pretty jacked up in sensitivity to catch that. The ISS will leave a long solid trail when its reflecting a lot of sunlight. With binoculars you can even see the the station itself. Really cool to do as the back ground stars really give you a sense of the speed its orbiting at.

    NASA has a new interactive map for the ISS> I don't think it gives the magnitude of it though and the ISS can vary a lot in brightness.
