I use to love playing in B&W. Have not done it in a long time. This thread might get me back into it.

    Thank you Knight.

Some pretty good pictures up here by Lint, RVFR, Gator and others. BTW I use a Nikon D7000 and looking to upgrade to a full frame sometime later this year. Possibly a D600/D610.

    OK, let's try again.
I am enjoying all the photos! I noticed they're is a pretty significant resolution drop uploading them here. The original of this image is tack sharp.

As colourful as the last two are there, I like the first on the best in that group. You take some nice shots Gator. Do you use filters to enhance the colour?

There are quite a few setting sun shots. They are always nice, but one should turn 90 degrees or 180 degrees to a setting sun. There are some amazing shots. Especially if there are snow covered mountains or ripe grain fields in the back ground.

The only filter I use these days is polarizing filter which can saturate colors and really help with clouds and sky. Sometimes on cobalt blue skys the filter will make the blue to dark. I use to use graduated neutral density filters to help out on to contrasty of a scene but that was back in the film days. If your using a tripod and run into that situation these days I just take 2 different exposures and merge them in photoshop. As long as your registration is good (don't bump the pod) it works well. Modern DSLR's have greater latitude than film. I shoot only in RAW file format and convert later.

A 25th anniversary gift to my wife a few years back, a trip to the UK, allowed for some opportunities for interesting photographs. I think anyways.

I think this is Edinburgh Castle. This was just before the annual Highland Tattoo so they had started setting up bleachers inside.

Of course, no one worthy of carrying a camera wouldn't stop while traveling through Queensferry for a photo of the infamous Railroad Bridge, an engineering marvel of its time. I also find that fog adds that mysterious look to photographs too.

    IMGP0519.jpg IMGP0523.jpg IMGP0524.jpg IMGP0529.jpg IMGP0534.jpg

And of course, a photo aboard the Queen's Yacht, HMS Britannia, which she never did own. Seems her use of it was terminated and the boat was decommissioned and sold to Edinburgh and is now a tourist attraction.

Speaking of the Crown...my tooth...Came off on that trip. A matter of interest. If you loose a crown or cap while away on vacation, dab some toothpaste on the crown and push it back on. It will stay there until you get home to your own dentist.

One of my favorite photos on this trip. The fuckers wouldn't stop the bus.
