    Check your throttle freeplay!

Had my VFR for all of two days, due to not having insurance and all that added until today I’ve only ridden it briefly. Went to start it to move it in my garage, all seemed well. I started it and went to pull out of the garage which required me to turn the handle bars all the way to the right. At this point the throttle stuck open just enough to catch me off balance which resulted in a zero mph drop.

I should’ve checked it but I failed to do so. After picking up the bike and cursing a bit, upon further inspection near the ends of the steering lock the throttle was stuck so badly that you could not even manually return the throttle. Adjusted the freeplay to proper specs and all is well.

I’ll take a couple of minor scratches on the bike over a serious accident any day but it sucks :(

safer to push the bike than ride it in the garage maybe

:Heh: checking for slack there should be a standard safety check any time you ride a strange bike.
