Let me know if you have a rear fender/battery tray for sale for a 5th gen VFR800 (US model)? I'm looking for one that hasn't been trimmed to do a tail tidy and still has the side reflector brackets riveted to it. If you have one, let me know. If you happen to have the license plate lamp assembly and the three reflectors on it, I'd also be interested in buying those. E-mail me at:

I can find lots of rear fenders, but all are trimmed. Nonetheless I can wait. I'm just trying to get my VFR back to stock, but not having the fender is not preventing from riding it.

I think I can help you with this, you can have it gratis but you'd have to pay shipping to the US. Any use?

    Drewski,

I'd be interested in your very generous offer, but it depends. I'm trying to restore my VFR to factory stock. The labels on your battery tray may be different as it is a UK model and also possibly has a different color code label (unless it came from a red one). I also don't know if the UK mandated side reflectors, so the riveted brackets may or may not be there. Only one of the US warning labels is still available from Honda. The best way to sort this out would be to send me a few pics. Do you mind e-mailing some pics to the address below?

    Thanks.

Ahh.......a nut & bolt restoration, I'm doing something similar with an old Suzuki at the moment and know how hard it can be to source original parts in good order, especially plastics. I'm fairly sure the brackets won't be there I'm afraid but will have a look when I get home on Sunday and get back to you.

    Drewski,

No rush. Let me know what you find when you get a chance. It isn't a restoration in the traditional sense as the VFR was in great running condition when I bought it in March. The previous owner had made mods I didn't care for and I'm looking to reverse them. One of those was an undertail trimming. But yes, I'd like any reversal to be factory correct. The major cosmetic issue was the lower left fairing. When I went to inspect the bike, I asked the owner if he could remove the lower fairings so I could look around. He obliged. The left side came off first and he gingerly laid the fairing on his lawn. We were having wind gusts that day in DC. A wind gust came and we both watched in horror as the wind picked up the fairing and it dragged across the driveway, finished side down.

I just finished an RZ350 restoration which needed lots of work. That took 2 years as I needed to source used parts from all over the world.

OK. Thanks for checking. For curiosity's sake, what are the differences?

Well I can't see any brackets for the reflectors so I'm presuming it's different. I couldn't find a photo of a US one to compare it with in the usual places but this one's a bit skuzzy too and has had a couple of holes drilled for a Scotoiler:-

The US ones have two brackets riveted near the rear for side reflectors. In any event, thanks for checking.
