Right, so I've just begun my first service on my first VFR (2002 vtec abs).. and on removing the air filter I have found oil deposited inside the airbox, by the inlet from what I am guessing is the crankcase breather hose. I know a little oil might find its way there but I wanted to ask how much is normal!

Totally normal. It is the positive crankcase ventilation port that is putting a little oil in the airbox. The engine uses the vacuum to pull the air out of your engine. If your oil level is too high, you'll see more.

Yep, thanks so much! Managed to change the oil and air filters first time. Seems, I overfilled the oil though and now have to let some out. Still first service wasn't likely to be perfect ha!
    Thanks again for the reply.

Heck, you further than me. I'm terrified to change my oil. Thanks for the explanation, Lints.
