Just got back from a ride from Whidbey Island, WA to Phoenix and Albuquerque. Planned as a welcome hot weather ride, it was named "The Scorcher." My 2014 VFR performed well the entire trip in temps from 46 degrees to 108. I gave it a couple of idle adjusts at high altitude (9, 660 feet) and a new rear tire in Idaho, but this is a real tour bike. One encounter of the Moose kind, and a lot of funky motel rooms later, I can say that this was 4700 miles of fun. Here's a picture of my bike parked next to a nice 1994 VFR (OR plates) in Idaho. This is a great bike.
Oooooh, purdy motos! Sounds like you had an amazing trip! You are BRAVE giving it such a go in the hot weather! Glad to hear you didn't have any serious issues and your moto performed well too! How long was your trip? What was your favorite part(s)? Do you have more photos to share?...Pretty Please?
Favorite parts: The road from Morenci North to Springerville in Arizona, formerly known at Rte 666. After 20 miles of hairpin turns they finally post a sign saying "Winding road next 99 miles." Motorcycling heaven. Also let's not forget Lolo Pass from Missoula, Montana into Idaho. Serious distance with fast turns for miles and miles. Another picture from the Malpais in New Mexico, north from Quemado. I had never been on this road and it was a great surprise.
