HI, I've had my VFR for about 3 months.
    I'm loving the bike.
Previous onwner changed oil before I got it.
I've changed to full synthetic (10/40) a month later.
    Swapped out the air filter
and this weekend going to drop clutch fluid and brake fluid.
    She's running quite sweet
My only worry is about the talk of failed RR and stators on these VFRs
Should I be worried with a bike that has 12, 750 miles on it.
At what mileage does the RR usually fail.
    Should I have it checked?
Thanks all and ride safe as always.

My 2007's original charging system failed in october 2010 with around 25,000 miles on it.
Pull your rr off and box it away somewhere, while your stator is still healthy.
    Install a www.Roadstercycle.com rr kit.
It is much better and easier to preemptively fix the issue with a simple rr swap, than to wait until you are stranded, need a tow home and then have to replace the rr, stator and battery all together or worse case wire harness and ecu as well.

Is it basically a plug n play type of setup.

The stator to rr is not part is not plug and play. You need to cut off the stator connector (doing yourself a favor as this is a common failure point), then crimp / solder the stator wires to the rr connector.

The rr to battery part is bolt on.

There are several post on the Stator/RR failure issue and it is something even the later generations have issues with, although not sure about the 8 gens just yet (2014+). As CandyRedRC46 said, replacing the RR now may allow your Stator to last a bit longer but my guess is somewhere in the 40k+ miles area, that too might go. The Stator is only half bathed in oil so it does seem to slowly cook itself, more so probably if using the stock RR.

The RR kits from RoadsterCycle are good deals and Jack is very helpful and also has how-to videos on his website. If you have any mechanical aptitude, swapping out the RR should be a snap.

A fall back is to fit a cheap volt-meter - loads for tiny money on eBay - you just want the type that shows volts as a number on an LED. It will not prevent charging system faults, but connected to an ignition live circuit it will allow your to monitor your charging volts as you ride. You will soon get a feel for what is normal - then if you see the displayed volts fall through the floor or shoot through the roof you will have a good indication the RR has failed and at least you have a chance to ride to a safe place before the remaining charge in the battery is depleted and the bike shuts off - leaving you stranded. A stator is expensive and quite a faff to replace - so if you can afford to fit a roadstercycle RR now - it makes a load of sense.

The +2014 VFR800 should be good to go for a while. Honda finally updated the rr to a very very advanced design. I think it is the FH023 now.

Check to make sure your bike was in for the wiring harness recall, and also beef up your charging system wiring / connectors.
