So I might be putting all my screened in patio furniture and stuff in my garage today and to make room for it I might move my VFR into the patio in anticipation of the Hurricane coming - so what would be more stable? My patio is rectangular shaped with two solid walls and two screened in walls. I'm thinking maybe parked in the walled corner and leaning into the corner on the side stand v. parked parallel to a wall on centerstand. If it gets REALLY bad I'll just wheel it into my house, but I'm curious which is generally less likely to be blown over. :beguiled: How much wind force would it take to tip over the bike? Weather Channel app is predicting winds of just over 100mph in my area.

Put it in the house. That's how we "roll" in Tampa

If it was me, I'd use the center stand but I'd also get one of these (Harbor Freight):

You can also use a ratchet-strap to secure the center stand, just make sure you're not using in a way that it will put any stress on the front fork or other damageable part:

    Got to protect that Viffer!

Crap - the courthouse is closed today! Looks like I'm stuck with her for the time being - fortunately for me she's still a little bit sexier than the VFR :love-struck:

I am still baffled that the patio furniture not only takes precedence over the motorcycle but you told us that it does.

For some reason I really thought this post would be about a CBR600F Hurricane.

You're preaching to the choir here, but the wife said she wants her car in the garage too and everything in "my patio cleared out". I'm p-whipped so I gotta do as she says lol. The patio does have glass and aluminum tables, wicker furniture, hanging and potted plants, little statues and nicknacks, lots of stuff that could easily become high speed projectiles - so I guess she has a point.

    Sorry to disappoint! :biggrin-new:

Alright, I've solved the problem! I'm just gonna park my 4Runner in the driveway. That will leave plenty of room in the garage for the VFR, my wife's CR-V, and all the shit from the patio. This way when the power inevitably goes out I won't be at the mercy of a powerless garage door. I coincidentally just had all the trees in my front yard trimmed in the last month and my house is on a little hill so I think my 4Runner will be fine.

Governor Scott on tv, wearing his NAVY hat, just said no one should be surfing - LOL.

Perpendicular to the wind at that velocity, ya better have that bike strapped down. Neither stand is gonna hold it from being blown over. Chocks may work but it they are not bolted down it's a gamble.

Pointing into the wind is what fairings are designed for.

How do I know this? We get gusts here of 90-95mph and my mach 1 blew over.

Remember watching a program on what hurricane force winds can do to a simple 2x4. They shot one out of a cannon at 60+ mph, devastating. That's when FL upgraded their construction regulations.

Never mind the patio furniture becoming missiles the whole house or parts of could become flying debris with 100 mph winds

I wish you well and hope everything and everyone comes out ok after the storm

Some of the news footage of the storm looks pretty intense

Thanks for your concern. So far it's not too bad - just a ton of rain. I just uploaded this "storm report" to my YT channel :congratulatory:

Living in the NW... Ferry mode.
In gear, roll forward till resistance, then side stand. If super paranoid... zip tie front brake lever with pressure. Not even a stupid tourist could hip check that baby to the deck... well... maybe.

Even though your original question is somewhat moot now, I do have experience with wind pushing over a VFR. It was a 6th gen with bags on, parked on the sidestand, with plenty of lean. Pretty windy day, and a gust of no more than 60 mph hit the kickstand side, and over it went. Luckily it wasn't mine

Yeah, we're going to have to see some pics before we decide.
Age/mileage/condition etc. Any previous owners? Any chassis upgrades?
Riding style is not important, whether you hang off, get your knee down or prefer a more upright position is up to you.
