These two photos show the exhaust with muffler. It looks simple but took hours of work. 4 into 2 into 1 headers from Cycle X.
I wanted just one clamp holding the exhaust and the muffler onto the exhaust.

The intakes (velocity stacks) were machined and polished aluminum.
They have very fine brass screens inside of them.
Steel Dragon Performance Deer River MN.

Things you see after looking the 3rd or fourth or fourteenth time.

Float height. Why measure? The measurement equaled what the straight revealed.

    See what i mean?

    Here is another one.

    On mechanical linkage slides.
Just measure the top edge height of the slide in the down position of the non adjustable carb (idle screw backed off), to the top edge of the carb body and then set all of the other 3 carbs to the same height. The slides will all be within .001 of each other!
    No vacuum syncing needed!

She's the sweetest inline four I've heard in a very long time. Bloody brilliant lad.

    Thanks Foothillrider.
Thanks for watching my beginner video.
I worked hard on the carb tuning as I will not accept a poorly
running engine with poor throttle response.

That part was pretty obvious Don. She fired instantly (clue #1), responded cleanly to small throttle blips (#2), and sounded crisp every time you gave her a little urge (#3). Now all we need is on-bike video from a nice ride ...

Really love the sound of the 1st-gen Honda 4. I never owned one; but did have a '75 550 back in the day.

Wouldn't you want some photos with the gas tank and seat on it?

I was installing the seat and tank and was just putting the gas tank lid on and saw that my gas tank liner inside was cracked and peeling off. @!#$!^%!!!!!!

No way to get in there to scrape it and sheet rock screws would not help.
That tank fits perfect with the seat too.
I am thinking about what to do about it .

That sucks a fat one. Can you take it to a radiator company? I hear people talking about the treatment but not sure what that would do to whatever paint you have already done on outside.

man that sucks. we used to put gravel in a tank with a little gas and slosh it around for hours to get rust off, but i'm not sure that would work for what you have. it'd prob never come off... hmm, what about something to kind of break it up, then the radiator shop high pressure spray? might that do it?

How hard is that stuff anyway? Maybe make a tool to bend around scraping and chiseling and what not.

    You were right Supertex...

I really want to keep that tank and my seat fits with it like a glove.
The outside of the tank has been powder coated.

I could put paint stripper inside of it and then wash out the paint stripper but what a mess and I am not sure about getting off the paint stripper.

I started scraping inside with a long stick, coat hanger and metal rod.
I have about 70% off of it in 3 hours or so. The paint chips have to be pulled out by hand if I can position them near the filler neck. I have been using the shop vacuum on the small flakes.

I ordered some 2 part epoxy this time from Caswell company. The only thing is it will take a week to get here NOT counting the week end.

Sort of like basic training in the military. They say it is only 30 days of hell, but then you find out that they do not count the week ends. And they don't have weekends off.
