The analogy is convincing. Taking it one step further: Changing your SO is not likely to work and divorces are expensive.

not exactly sure what you're trying to say here. I've noticed a problem but because I know about it I shouldn't mention it?

I'm whining about the plastic by the chain.
I'm asking for suggestions on how to fix the bar ergonomics

Do you mean the lower piece put there so keep chain grease off the pillion passengers legs?

Frequently not on sportsbikes but fitted to most touring bikes?

    Is that what it's for?
The piece with the chain/sprocket wear marks on it?

Good to know it has a purpose. Still don't like it though

We used to remove that piece (chain guard) on our Schwins many moons ago so our rides would look more coolester, as well as cards in the spokes! You have no idea how many of my jeans were ripped on the bottom of my left leg! But my bike looked badddd asss! I actually ripped off he tip of my left big tow once.

Those are heinously expensive for what you're getting. That's one thing I loathe about motorcycle parts, like medical, take one thing that costs $10.00 to make and charge $300 for it. The Helibars are a very simple thing to manufacture and yet they price it like it solves world hunger. They better give me a back massage while I ride for that price.

Motorcycling is a niche industry. When you make something for motorcycles, like specialty conversion bars, your market is fairly limited as is. Any niche market I buy from has the same thing. Reproduction car parts, etc.

I do know the feeling, though. Paid $100 for some cheap plastic components for my 80s firebird. Probably less than 50c to make.

Yeah a lot of good cycle gear is expensive. The difference I found between Convertibars and Helibars is the Convertibars are much more adjustable.
