Hey there, I did some searching on here and couldn't anything that matched my issue.

I just noticed today that I am getting a clunking/clicking noise when I am taking off from a stand still in first gear. I only hear the noise just after the bike starts moving and it seems to be coming from the front or bottom of the bike. I don't hear the noise when I shift through the rest of the gears. I also tried starting off in 2nd gear and don't think it made the noise.

anyway it might be the chain? I do feel like I might need a new one soon. I have not changed it on this bike yet and I've going about 10,000 miles since I bought it and have no idea when the last guy changed it.

Any insight would be great. Thanks in advanced.

    Most propably the chain.
Grab the links on the middle of the rear sprocket and see if you can move them.
There should be very little play and you shouldn't be able to lift them off the sprocket.
If they are lose, replace the whole lot, not just the chain.

Sounds like a loose chain or work sprockets.

OEM-quality chains last about 20,000 miles.
