So probably still some tread left at 7k of spirited riding. I can live with that.

It was a joke...hence the emoticon. But my question still remains, why wear it it down to absolutely no tread?

You seen how much these tires cost? I'm gonna ring out every bit of available mileage. Also, not a crazy amount of rain here

Yeah, I hear you. Figured it was economic. Thought it might have been a long trip and you prayed to make it home! We had one rider with us once who had a similar looking tire when we stopped at The Rock Store, then we rode about 15-20 miles up the coast and when we stopped there, his belts was showing! He was able to limp home but had to get a tire the next day as he uses his bike for commuting. By coincidence it was a PR tire as well, PR2 I believe.

I wouldn't do this to a set of Metzlers for example. I ran a radial of their s that started flaking as soon as the tread ran out

On my RD, I had a Metzler 33 Laser on the front and an ME 99 on the back. They stuck to the track like glue. I never felt so confident before.

I already am. I had one in high school too, same orange 75. But I have 5 bikes and you know if your not regularly riding the RD you end up yanking carbs and cleaning, or your wacking it too hard and grabbing a piston or 2 to replace. lol Next one I get will probably be a 400 with brake and suspension work and do some vintage track days on it. That and putter around town.

Yeah, I melted the pistons on my 3rd lap. It ran great on the street but obviously the factory pipe products pipe require a larger jet.

A 400 Daytona would be nice.

Part of the reason I have kept my 900SS is I don't want to have any regrets! I have heard from a handful of people that they regret selling their old Super Sport. The other reason is that it's still a fun bike to ride. Takes a little more effort to ride sometimes, but ultimately it's been a great bike and still gets quite a lot of attention. Love them RDs too, when I was racing my ATC is the desert, there were quite a lot of them converted into three wheelers. Sand drag races were littered with them.

Or a RZ 500 V4! If you can find one from our neighbors up north. A friend had a RZ 350 in the mid 80's, a very nice bike, water cooled.

I never got to ride a Gamma, they were bad ass. The Walter Wolf one I have seen the last few years at a vintage bike show here in Fl. Billy Joel comes to that show regularly and has even played with the local band at the show.
Thread hijacks on cool bikes are ok. lol
