Of course we need to be careful of whom we elect; that goes without saying. But, Obama hasn't even been given a chance. From the start, Repubs have attacked him. They attack his popularity by calling him the messiah, as if having a president who is popular is a bad thing! At least Bush had a couple of years to fuck things up before the Dems seriously began attacking him. Repubs are blaming Obama for the state of the economy even though this clusterfuck began with Bush. Actually, things have gotten slightly better economically since Obama's been in office.

Why do you equate a vote for Obama with not being knowledgeable? What has he done that would prove this? Proposing to fix the shitty healthcare system we have, so that people don't lose their homes because of medical expenses, or so people with preexisting medical conditions can have insurance? Proposing to end "don't ask, don't tell", so that any willing person can serve in the military, not just straight ones? Taking environmental problems seriously and not just bending over to industry? Proposing to end the war in Iraq? Proposing to end torture and other inhumane practices? Proposing to better our reputation and standing in the world, so that other nations respect us?

I say "propose" for a lot of these because if it weren't for Repubs in Congress stalling and wishing for his failure, a lot more would get done. There have been senators or congressman quoted as saying that the healthcare bill will be Obama's Waterloo (a huge mess that will take Obama down). How unpatriotic is that: hoping your president fails (which would negatively affect the country, too) because his agenda differs from yours.

Give the elected person a chance to do his/her job. Then, if he doesn't do a good job, don't reelect him. Bush got 8 years and got us into 2 wars, our economy went into the crapper, our reputation went in there with it. There were a plethora of scandals and constitutional violations in the name of National Security, financial scams, Enron (which the Bushes were tight with), a clear disdain for science, a degradation of environmental regulations, and a disregard for anyone who disagreed with the administration.

But, Obama can't even go a month into his presidency without being compared to Hitler and you've got the retard t-baggers claiming Obama wants to turn our democracy into socialism?

It's not that I don't give shit. You might be surprised...

But, there are a couple forums I like in order to escape the news cycle for a change.

Wasn't this thread about motorcycles and girls?

So yea, I guess when it comes to VFRW and politics, I guess I don't give a shit. Unless it's a law that directly relates to me riding my bikes, then I don't care and I don't care to see everyone's feathers getting ruffled. Shutup and ride dammit, everyone gets along when we're on our own bikes, helmets closed, and freeway speed winds blowing between us!

    Who is John Galt?

Thanks, I am convinced. Now all I need to do is find some country to invade, whack a few thousand of the locals, infect others with diseases, rip them off for thier gold, destroy thier gods, torture a few to keep the Priests happy and then I can go back to looking at the babes and maybe even try to present a logical argument that even in the US Navy, it is presumed these Seal Team members are innocent until proven guilty.

You can bet your ass, that just like on the TEEVEE there are JAG Lawyers who are SEALS.

Speaking for myself because the right to vote is held to be a private matter in a Democracy, I was careful not to vote for the Bush Inquisition either time.

    Oh yea, that's good stuff!!

Next, maybe we can stear this toward:

    1st, Health care,
    then
    the national debt,
    unemployment,
    "climate change"
    Korea,
    Iran,
    oh, don't forget guantanamoo!
    The Nobel Peace Prize
    the olympics

Maybe there's another issue or two I'm forgetting that can divide the forum besides the 5th vs. 6th gen debate??

C-mon guys...move beyond Ayn Rand and Noam Chompsky.

Rand was/ is intellecually and morally bankrupt and so is Chompsky.

We ain't getting anywhere with either of them.

John Galt is a fictional character in Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged. Although he is absent from much of the text, he is the subject of the novel's often repeated question, "Who is John Galt?", and the quest to discover the answer.

As the plot unfolds, Galt is acknowledged to be a creator and inventor who embodies the power of the individual capitalist. He serves as an idealistic counterpoint to the social and economic structure depicted in the novel. The depiction portrays a society based on oppressive bureaucratic functionaries and a culture that embraces the stifling mediocrity and egalitarianism of socialistic idealism. In this popular mass ideology, the industrialists of America were a metaphorical Atlas of Greek mythology, holding up the world, whom Galt convinces to "shrug," by refusing to lend their productive genius to the regime any longer.

Let's assume that BZ has read Chomsky and formed an educated opinion, fine!

But folks need to read for themselves to form their OWN OPINION of this gifted MIT scholar (Chomsky, not BZ) and his analysis of America politics. Some will agree and be enlightened, others won't.

His special analysis is to explain why the US acts as it does in world affairs, who benefits, and where the puppet strings operating our politicians lead to.

But don't dismiss him without doing some reading first @ www.chomsky.com
