purchased 87 VFR700 for 500.00, it runs and drives. Trying to clean it up a bit, wondering if i should be concerned with cleaning carbs. Will I need gaskets and such to reassemble?
First, how does it run? Second, if it runs badly, you most likely will not need any parts to clean the carbs if nothing is leaking. However, the most commonly replaced parts are (in order): - Pilot jet O-rings - Fuel tube O-rings - Float Bowl gaskets/O-rings - Float Valve Needles and seats - Jets - Diaphragm pistons (due to tear in rubber diaphram)
if it is running well don't tear anything apart, maybe some cleaner in the tank and mixit up. good price..BTW I would try to wipe that crap out rrather than spray it down with carb cleaner...
