I wanted everyone to know I never doubted you. I read all the seat related posts describing the trials of the stock seat. After a lengthy ride of my own I too came to the conclusion that the stock seat sucked. I have been lurking on eBay for the last few weeks and found a Sargent seat with matching yellow piping for my "Pretty." I thought that $315 was fair so I parted with a chunk of my "fun money." I got it today. I haven't even ridden it yet but I can tell a difference just by dry riding it in the garage. That seat makes the OEM version feel like a plank. I can't wait to get some riding time in on it. I have to work so it will have to wait.

Don't let anyone catch you dry riding your bike. You will have some explaining to do mister! Oh, and don't forget the tissue...

The more posts I read like this, the more it makes me want to just bite the bullet and get a Sargent. Lately I was thinking about trying tank grips first to see if it'll prevent me from sliding forward on the stock seat, but I don't want to throw patches on my pretty red gas tank haha. I think I'm pretty much sold now, Amazon has these on sale for the 6th gen so I'll be picking one up in the next week or two.

I don't think the stock seat is that bad really, and I am a big fat guy. It's fine for commuting only though! I bought the Corbin seat since I loved it so much on my old Nighthawk. But I ended up hating it on the VFR. It changed my seating position and I kept sliding backwards on it. I traded it for a Sargent and the first time my cheeks hit the seat I loved it. There really is no comparison to the Corbin or the stock seat in my opinion.

If anyone is on the fence in regards to the Sargent, just buy the damn thing. Your back and butt will thank you for it!

Hey you think the VFR seat is bad, try a Stock Ducati! My ST4 gave me prostitis from the ball smasher position. My hypermotard was even worse, un-rideable, I dropped 500.00 on a Sargent seat day I bought the bike. Totally transformed it, what a joy it became to ride. Unfortunately they do not make anything for the ancient VFR's. that's all custom big buck stuff.

I just bought my '99 VFR800 a few weeks ago and it came with a Corbin seat, so I've never tried the stock seat. Today I did my first day ride, 290km and although my right shoulder and wrist hurt, my ass was comfy all day. I am able to slide a bit on the seat but I like it as I can change riding position a little to relive my shoulder.

Nothing wrong with the stock seat, no problems with 750 miles days and after doing a 180 mile stint recently on a mate's 954 getting back on my VFRs was shear luxury.. Mind I probably don't know what I'm missing so best l stay ignorant.

The Italians have a propensity for making the world's best looking bikes with the hardest, most uncomfortable seats. I had a Guzzi, in the 80s, with a seat made of molded rubber. It had all the comfort of a hockey puck.

Just my $0.02, for all those considering an aftermarket seat, you may want to consider Spencer's seat mods - at 1/3 of the price for a Sargeant or Corbin. My experience with my modified stock seat has been fantastic. Best $ I have spent on my VFR. Obviously if you want a change in the appearance of the seat, you would have to go the aftermarket route.

Even 50 miles gave me the monkey butt on the stock seat ... been 250 miles non-stop on the Sargent seat and was ready for more

The only problem I have is what to do with the stock seat? They take up a lot of room on the shelf and I have all kinds of take off parts from various bikes filling up the shop.

Throw it on the classifieds. Might be some lurker out there who's trying to restore their bike and looking for cheap parts, and can't be picky about stock or aftermarket seats. (At least if I was on a tight budget, that's what I'd be doing).

I kept the stock for track days or for selling with the bike later. You can often make more money by selling the bike with the OEM seat and the aftermarket farkel separately.

Hell yeah. Buying a bike with farkles already on it is a way to get them on the cheap.
