So I've been wondering about this stuff for a while. I will be asking across several fora I belong to:

    1. What kind of bike(s) do you have?

    2. Do you ride every day? If not how often?

    3. Do you commute? If so how far? How long does it take you, typically?

    4. what is the fastest (indicated) you have ever gone on the road?

    5. How often do you hit indicated 90mph? 100?110? 120?130?140?150?160?170?180?190?

    6. Do you have a regular route you ride just for fun/timing? If so how long and how fast?

    7. Have you taken any advanced training? If so road or track?

    8. Have you done trackdays? If so how many?

    9. Which brake do you primarily use? Why?

My answers: 1. 1993 Fireblade, 1998 VFR800i. 2. No. From March to Oct probably 4-5 days a week.3. Yes, about 4X/wk during the season but take it year round when the weather isn't too cold. 25 miles, anywhere from 18-35 minutes depending on traffic. 4. 165mph. 5. 90 is my typical cruising speed. I hit at least 140 on almost every ride/commute. 6. Yes 110 miles early every Sunday - mostly lightly trafficked back country roads. I average about 82mph.7. Yes California Superbike School 2-day class, so...track. 8. Does the Superbike school count lol? If not then no but I want to, just waiting to buy a trailer and have the money. 9. front with the rear to stabilize the bike and aid hard braking from high speeds and the rear a lot more in rain or heavy traffic. Most of braking force is front brake on any bike.

    1. What kind of bike(s) do you have? 2005 VFR800

    2. Do you ride every day? If not how often? Almost about 4 days a week.

    3. Do you commute? If so how far? How long does it take you, typically? yes again about 3 to 4 days a week. about 25 miles each way.

    4. what is the fastest (indicated) you have ever gone on the road? 145.

    5. How often do you hit indicated 90mph? 100?110? 120?130?140?150?160?170?180?190? 90 about 1 to 3 times a week. 100 maybe once a week. Over that not often unless I'm on the track.

    6. Do you have a regular route you ride just for fun/timing? If so how long and how fast? No timing but I have a set of regular routes with some fun twisties. Ride them often and fast.

    7. Have you taken any advanced training? If so road or track? No advanced training formally, but I've read a lot on fast riding and I practice a lot.

    8. Have you done trackdays? If so how many? Yes about 5 at this point. Summit Point Main and Jefferson a few times, Beaver Run ones, I have New Jersey Motosports park scheduled for Mid August.

    9. Which brake do you primarily use? Why? On track front, on street both.

    1. What kind of bike(s) do you have?

    1996 Honda VFR - Stock.
1990 Honda Hawk GT - Modded

    2. Do you ride every day? If not how often?

Everyday that it isn't raining from when there isn't snow on the roads to the first snow fall, past that if the roads clear up.

    3. Do you commute? If so how far? How long does it take you, typically?

Everyday it isn't raining. It's only about 3 miles and takes me about 10 minutes. Usually take the longer scenic route home.

    4. what is the fastest (indicated) you have ever gone on the road?

    125 in a '99 Honda Prelude
115 (103 on GPS) on the Hawk GT (that's all she's got)
150 (135 on GPS) on the VFR. Was turning 10 grand in 6th, but I should have down shifted to 5th and redlined it.

    5. How often do you hit indicated 90mph? 100?110? 120?130?140?150?160?170?180?190?

Very rarely. Usually cruise on the highway at 75-80. Not a real big fan of doing high speed runs. I don't really see what they prove. Twisties are way more fun...

    6. Do you have a regular route you ride just for fun/timing? If so how long and how fast?

Yeah, I have a few that I tend to follow. They range from 10-30 miles. Usually don't get above 60-65 on the back roads, to many deer.

    7. Have you taken any advanced training? If so road or track?

Just the MSF Beginner course when I was 17 so I could get my license early.

    8. Have you done trackdays? If so how many?

None, but I would love to take the Hawk out on a track.

    9. Which brake do you primarily use? Why?

    Both.

Well, I am not sure, whilst dirt skills are great for the street too its the same thing, But there are no right or wrong answers here.

True about VFRs but I meant generally. I usually don't think that I am using linked brakes on our VFR, I just squeeze the front.

Well I like to do both and the bends for a overall fast speed. That's how i am training in the States for the Manx GP as closed circuit racing isn't all that herlpful.

    2 yes, I don't even own a car currently.
3 No car = Daily Commute on the bike. about 10 miles one way.
4 This bike? About 105, turning is very unsettling above 80.
    5 90 - Daily on my way to/from work.
6 No regular route. I like taking new ways.
7 None, but almost 7.5k miles of experience so far.
    8 N/A
9 Both, always. More braking pressure is applied to the front though, rear brake locks too easily.

I resent that provocation enormously !!

    *************************

MY '86 VFR is stored while i ride my '88 Hawk

NO, about 4-5 days in summer months

Primarily ride commuting 9 miles each way, even in heavy rain.
Hawk is perfect for busy traffic because it's so much lighter, lower, more fuel-efficient for urban use. The VFR is like a combat boot, while the Hawk is a running shoe or ballet slipper!

90 often??? Yes, in selected locations in good conditions.

I like to top out my Hawk at about 110 on the interstate just to make sure it's running right ! I did about 130 tops on the VFR and about 140 on a ZX-7

USED to have route, don't now

Did classes with Pridmores CLASS and Kieth Code

No health insurance, so no trackdays

    Front
