I had to change my email address to an incorrect one, then change it back to my correct email address so the website would send a verification email to myself which enabled my account again.

So VFR world is able to send emails to myself, so why was my account flagged as unable to receive emails?

Something going on with the site? I'm logged in and there are ads everywhere now. And just for a tease, some have the text, "members won't see this ad" underneath. They are throughout the threads too.

The top ad block is wrongly positioned in Firefox under OSX (I'm running v 53.03). In fact it is placed over some pretty important menu items. In Safari 10.1 and FF 53.03, both under OSX: every time the ad block in the right column on the front-page changes content the search field is closed. Very annoying when trying to type something in the field. I have experienced this myself when posting an ad, and here is what happens: you enter all the pertinent info for your ad, upload photos, proofread, then click on the final 'Publish ad' button. (I'm still awaiting a reply.)
Finally I decided the only option was to re register and ask for help and then have the new account deleted.
Voila! My email address was recognised and a password reset magically appeared.
