Hey all. New guy here from New England. I thought I'd say hello and ask a few qeustions. I have a 2002 Honda Superhawk that I love to death but I have realized something, It doesn't fit my riding. I find myself cruising and doing more touring lately than carving corners (roads here aren't like roads in Southern California). The SuperHawk is great but I think a VFR would fit my lifestyle and riding better. Do you all think a pristine 2002 Super Hawk with lots of goodies, never dropped and all maintenance done would be a fair/even trade for a decent 5th generation VFR? I'm not looking to sell the SuperHawk just trade even up for a 5th generation VFR. I don't want to sell the SuperHawk and be bikeless and end up not finding a VFR and then I'm pissed cause I let go of a great bike. So, am I crazy? Does this sound reasonable? I've found some VFR's on craigslist but they are either looking to sell or already have sold. Any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That would be a pretty good swap. A 5th gen would be fairly comperable to your SH. Then trick it out and it will spank it. Ok I'm biased. I did exactly that, check mine out in the gallery. Long distance comfort (relatively), sport bike reflexes.

A '98 or '99 are considered most desireable.

    Good luck,
    MD

It sounds reasonable, but finding someone to do it will be the hard part. VFR riders tend to hold on to their rides longer than most from what I can tell, especially 4th and 5th gens since they are becoming so rare (relatively speaking). You can find people selling them out here in Cali every so often, but trading is another story...Bet the VFR would have more miles, though, even though you didn't say how many miles you have. Tori (another member) told me a Superhawk rider around here somewhere that he rode with that had around 99000 miles or so, though.

Yeah, I kind of figured it would be touph to find someone to trade but it can't hurt to try. My Super Hawk has just over 16000 on it. Valves checked and within specs. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Alot of us would love to hve Both in the stable. 5th gen prices are coming down with mileage going up...you might be able to swing both bikes.

    Welcome to the site.
