vfr 2006--headlights to high

hello my first post here, do not know much about my vfr, but i do have a problem with lights blinding people. is there a way to adjust or maybe changing bulbs for some blue ones, i guess it's still going to be to high. please help me, i get to many rode rages due to my lights. I drive down my street and my lights reach the 3rd floor of houses.

 

Look under the front faring. Just behind the oil cooler is the head light assembly. You should see a slot where you can stick a Phillips screwdriver in and adjust the low beams. Your screwdriver will be turning a metal gear, if you want to feel if it’s working you can stick your finger beside it and feel it rotate. Counter-clockwise will lower them. If they are aimed as high as you say I would check and see if they are installed correctly. When I got my bike back from having the wiring harness fixed, they just stuck the bulbs in the housing without snapping the wire bale over the back. Basically the rubber boot was the only thing holding them in. With the bulbs just sitting there they were aimed high, I was lighting up the overhead signs on the interstate.

that's exactly what i think happened, got in to accident a few months ago and since i've gotten the bike back it's been like that. i do find that the bulbs are loose, i assumed that these mechanics knew what they were doing and never gave it another thought, till recently. Is there an easier way to reach the bulbs got some what of big hand and can barely reach behind.

 

Bulbs adjustment

Peel off the rubber cover, There is a tab on the side, If hard to reach use a neddle nose plier. After peel off the rubber cover, squeeze on the side of the connector (There is a tap lock the bulb in place) Turn the handle bar to a side to gain more room. Slowly pull the connector out. The is a metal wire hook to the bottom. Puss in the wire (spring) and lift up the spring will pop out and the bulb will be free. Try not to touch the bulb. Hope this help.

 

Scuba's got it right. Turn the handle bars to make the most of the limited room. Peal off the boot and take a look a bulb. There should be a wire bale holding it in place. The wire bale is anchored on one side and goes over the back of the bulb, holding it in place. The Service Manual does a pretty good job on describing how to get the job done. checked the bulbs and noticed the left one was loose, bale wire seems in place but still loose removed it and re-installed it, same prob.I guess when i am driving lights must be flickering. one more question for now, what is the appropriate height for the lights with out it being annoying to other drivers.

One more try

Have your bike on level ground (not on center stand) turn on your light and sit on the bike like how you would ride. See where the beam land on the ground. This will give you an ideas to adjust. I do it at night on the street and bring in the garage facing the wall to adjust my. Can't really tell you the height I adjust the beam same as the car. Did you try to adjust your front fork?

 

i can not see this screw that needs to be turned counter clockwise to adjusted headlights on my 06.

It's more of a slot that allows you to turn a gear. On mine there is a white arrow painted on the bottom of the headlight assembly pointing to it. See if this helps -



If its still not clear, let me know and I'll take a picture tomorrow when I'm cleaning the bike.
