Hey everyone, Well, could use some other ideas at this point...Engine dies at idle after warm up....If riding, pukes randomly at 60 or so...pull over and can't maintain 3k steady...filters all new, plugs good, sparks there but weak, pumps kickin' clean gas...added sea foam and started to run better but still bogging....Have owned it all 24 years, winter stored the same each year, 18k on the odey ....Anyone? Anyone????? Thx T

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Sounds like the carbs might be gummed up and needs a good cleaning, or a vacuum leak somewhere. Maybe also do a voltage test of the battery at idle, and at 5k or so to see if she is getting enough juice from the stator & R/R.

Does it only run while on choke?

There you have it. It's the carbs, they need cleaned. With the addition of Ethanol in all fuels these days (oxygenated fuels) the breakdown, or varnishing if you will, happens much more quickly than it used to. It's really common, the only way to prevent it is to run the carbs dry before letting the bike sit for more than a week. At least that's the only way I've been able to handle it. Off seasons require Stabil or similar at a minimum.

Hey jason..Just came back from a test ride..the little screamer seems to have hesitation at take off but once she's moving,it pulls hard.. The dieing continues to plague me as its only when i'm slowing to a stop..Also I'm smelling "richness in the air" so carb fun is what I'm thinking too...started riding late this year so needless to say, i'm leaning toward storing it soon...Thanks tho for the electric tips..T Oh,and the choke is on 1/8" at idle..off while riding..
