anyone in the new orleans, baton rouge area. looking for a riding buddy. my last one quit on me. I generally like to take longer rides on weekends weather permitting. I know there are a few ther vfr's in the area. although i haven't met any yet. I have seen two other ones, a fourth gen and a fiftth gen. As far as I know my dealer told me I have the only pearl white one that they have sold. don't know about the other Honda dealer.
there are some cool roads on the northshore where I grew up.

Just ordered an '08 from the Metairie dealer. It should be in in about one week. Whenever I can get away from work, I try to take a ride. My neighbor usually does about 250 miles or so on a Saturday morning.

    Joe,
Congrats on the new purchase. What are you riding now? If you haven't owned one of these bikes before I believe you will love it. It depends on where you are coming from. Your expectations and aspirations. Drop me a PM when you get the new bike. We' ll hook up and go for a ride.

I'm on my red 4th gen with a knockoff Givi case every day in Metairie / Jefferson. I'm also looking for people to go on longer rides with. I spend too much time commuting and not enough time riding for fun. Last good ride I had was to the Indy MotoGP this year, and that was almost all in the rain!

Located here in Metairie. I am purchasing my first Viffer this weekend, a 2007 Red Interceptor. I rode years ago, and am getting myself back in the saddle. I am going to need to put in some hours to get used to this bike. Gotta get myself back in the groove.

Just like you - I'm waiting to take delivery of my new bike. Did you get yours from Boyce Honda?

I am hoping to take advantage of some of the weekends to get out there and ride.

Have you looked into going to any of the local bike nights? (The Kamp, Pit Stop).

Bought my '08 from Greg at Boyce. I've been dealing with Greg for around twenty years now. I almost went with the red '07, but it seems that I've had nothing but bad luck with red vehicles in the past ("sudden stops") so I bought the Silver/Grey. It tok about three business days for the bike to arrive. I'm really having a kick in the pants with this bike. Having had the full range of bikes in the past two years - '07 CBR 1000 and '05 VTX 1800 F - the VFR is the most ballanced bike of the group. And, I'm just partial to Hondas since my '84 V65 Sabre 1100 V4.

When I have the time, I usually ride with a a motley crew of riders on Saturday mornings - 600, 1000 GSXRs, tourers, goldwings riding sweeper. Most of them have CBs. Some have radar/laser detectors and Garmin Nuvi GPS. THey tend to ride a quick pace but the sweeper is content going as slow as need be. I may even take a shot at tomorrow morning if I can clear my schedule.

Taking delivery tomorrow morning. I just completed installing a front-wheel chock in my trailer this afternoon. I also purchased some 'Canyon Dancers' to strap down and stablize the front of the bike, suspension, as well as secure the bike upright during transport. I even have some straps to prevent rear-end of the bike from bouncing around in the trailer.

As soon as I get in the groove with this new bike, I will be sure to meet up with you guys!

Man, I'd really like to get out there with you fellows, but I made a deal with the devil; oops, I mean the wife! The best that I can do is that I take it out to the lakefront Sunday morning and ride around out there some. Other than that, I've got to live up to my end of the deal I made, which is that I will be spending the day with my youngest son. He's already into motorcycles, but he's not riding up on two wheels yet.

Put it this way, I'll give you a holla Sunday late morning to see where yur at.

    Damn, I Love This Bike!!!

I rode all morning long, especially since the traffic was at a minimum, so I could get used to the bike. It didn't take long for me to settle right in. The transmission is still shifting a little rough - I'm sure because it's not broken in yet; and downshifting into 1st gear gave me a few fits, but that ought to work itself out over time also.

Quick it is! Quick indeed! I hit just over 5K RPM's a couple of times, and couldn't get over the torque being so solid; I can't imagine what VTEC is going to feel like when it bites down! The mechanic at the dealer suggested that I wait until I have 1K miles on the odometer before I tap into VTEC. I just hope I can hold myself back from crossing over too soon?

When I started out this morning, the odometer reading was .4 miles. After my ride was done today, I had put about 44 miles on it. I will probably spend part of this week working on slow turning maneuvers, cuz no doubt about it, this bike has some added weight to it, but it is definitely one sweet ride!

    I knew you would.
Yes she is a bit on the heavy side but you will find that her balance is a thing of beauty.
Also i was told to keep mine under 60 MPH for the first 600 miles. But that I should work through the entire RPM range. the idea is to break i the engine and allow the valves and other parts to seat. If you never go out of the vtec you won't ever use the other two valves. I used to love the feel of the vtec kickin in felt like a turbo on boost. I still feel it but it is much smoother with a power commander. new transmissions usually are a little stiff. it will get smoother. I'll post a question about breakin on the forum. Lets see whateveryone else was told.

Glad to see you got the bike. They're a kick in the pants. I've received two responses to it on the street - People either know exactly what it is or have never seen one and think its a new model.

I've never worried about all of the hype for break-in other than following the manual anf taking it easy for the first 300 miles. I rode mine 323 miles on Saturday keeping the rpm at different levels and not twisting it wide open. AND I got it over 6700 rpms a number of time, just not putting a heavy load on it. I also kept it under 10k rpms. I now have 1k on it in the first month.

I'm all about short rides so I can get home to see my kids too. i take the lakefront often. Sometimes I run east on I-10 to the Chalmette exit and take chef hwy past lake Catherine then up to Slidell and back on 1-10 or reverse the route. It take about 1.5 to 2 hours in the morning, home mid morning and have the rest of the day for whatever.

    Joe
