LMFAO!!! I read an article somewhere (houston chronicle, maybe, or cnn) about Harley having serious problems with subprime customers. This article received a lot of reader comments. By the time I got tired of reading the comments, I had not found one Harley rider give any objective reasons why Harleys are awesome. The order of the day seemed to be that vibration, too much weight, and obscene pipes are what make Harleys special.

While in my cage, I stopped beside a harley that vibrated like it was about to explode. I kid you not; the handlebars, windshield, and instrument cluster were trembling violently like the bike had epilepsy.

In this day and age, I fail to understand how 1.3L and larger cruisers still have carbs and are air-cooled. Harley has a very nice R&D strategy: improve the technology in the bikes as little as possible (thereby saving a fortune), and charge a premium for bikes that are too heavy, have too much chrome, single front brakes (on 700+ lb bikes!!!), and jar your teeth.

I have no issues with anyone who buys and likes their Harleys. I just find it rather ignorant when some of these people call Japanese bikes Ying-Yang pieces of junk. These folks refuse to acknowledge that they are being raped by HD who is selling them a waaaaaayy overrated brand. I'm sure all that chrome and the unique designs are cute, but come on!

This my experience as well. The only Harley rider who doesn't know there is something better out there is the one who has NEVER ridden anything else because they refuse to. It wouldn't be manly enough for them, it doesn't say Harley on it, blah blah blah.

I saw a show on American Thunder recently where Harley Davidson actually engineers the vibrations and Harley "character" into their cruisers. There couldn't be a more out of touch approach than that. Sounds like the problems GM and Ford have. As we all know, bad character flaws eventually annoy even the biggest supporters. This would be the point where Mr. Orange and Black ventures into a different dealership. Only problem is the average Harley rider doesn't ride further than the bar so the flaws take longer to notice and care about.

    Anyway, ride on...

And I thought Hog riders bought bikes BECAUSE they couldn't get it up!
I always knew they overpaid for a crappy pushrod lump.
Now to add insult to injury,we learn those big bouncin' pistons ruin their wee-wees?

I'm storing my father-in-law's 1200 Sportster in my garage this winter.(Yes,he fits the demographic profile exactly)

Anyhoo...Any of you try to remove the battery on this pos? I think they put the bare battery on an assembly line, and built the bike around it!

With the huge r&d department they employ, you'd think they could give one of their engineers a break from the "trademark sound development"lab and have him do something useful and design a proper battery mounting system!

I guess thats why, when you spend the big bucks, they throw in a "free" battery tender.(Of course it's branded with the almighty H.D. logo)

Totally agree! I used to ride a Harley, and I know MANY non-Harley riders who used to ride a Harley. I can't say I've ever me ONE Harley rider who used to ride something else, and can honestly say they prefer their Harley.

There is a group of guys that ride their Harleys into work every day here at the Hard Rock in Vegas. We got to talking and they were telling me how cool my bike was (I of course heartily agreed). One of them said he could never ride a bike like that because it's "too fast" for him. Maybe that's the answer... Harleys are the only bikes slow enough for them.

As an ex and never again Harley owner I can testify to everything that's been said here, man what a disappointing Piece o' crap they build. I was in the dealer looking at them and asked the salesman why the welds had so much spatter on the frames and he had the balls to say " it adds to the handbuilt character of the bike". Translation, lazy ass workers too tired to pick up a grinder..
Gotta admit though , freaking brilliant marketing for a vastly overpriced antique!:bs:
