Oh, crap! Sorry about that man. I though you were going to be back home this weekend.

During this time of year, I am able to ride during the weekdays, especially on Wednesdays around 'Bike Night'. Since the winter is setting in, my business is slowing down a lot, therefore I should be able to break away to ride a few more week days other than just Wednesdays.

Also, I'll be sure to put in another order for some more great ridin' weather for the weekend of December 13th, cuz an Abita Brewery run sounds great! :whoo:

P.S. I did order a new set of Dunlop Roadsmarts from Motorcycle Superstore yesterday. They should be here by Monday.

Where do you go to bike night. we use to hit the Pit stop and the Kamp. we heard that the Pit Stop got right unfriendly toward Plastic bikes and crotch rockets. Mostly go to the Kamp, but I haven't been in a couple of months. Need to change my front tire on thursday when I get back. I run Metzler Sportec M3's.
    see ya soon

I'm not too sure what's happened to the Pit Stop; I have noticed that there haven't been nearly as many bikes there as in the past. But The Kamp; now that's a different story. The past two times that I've gone to The Kamp after leaving Pit Stop, The Kamp's parking lot was slammed with all types of bikes - Harley-types mostly, but definitely a variety of different bikes, and there was a cool crowd of friendly folks there.

Yes sir, it is my understanding that Metzler has some really great tires. I just might consider them the next time around.

According to UPS, my Roadsmarts will arrive on December 9th. I am hoping to get these installed around the same time that you get your front tire changed out. Since you mentioned Garrett Honda earlier regarding tire service, I'm going to give them a try.

Sounds great Joe! If you and your wife want to meet up and roll through the plantation scene, I'm certainly fine with that. Or, if you want to roll to the northshore, that'll work too. I'll leave it up to you if that's ok, because the only ideal motorcycle travel routes that I'm familiar with are down in Lafource and Terrebonne Parishes. Another words, I'm hoping to get introduced to some new scenic terrain!

Sure hope you'll be able to break away for an Abita run next weekend? I'm about to put in another order for some more favorable riding weather conditions for next weekend, when Danimal gets back to the States.

Since I purchased my bike, Mother-Nature has been really generous with granting my requests for ideal riding and fishing weather.

    Welcome home Danimal !

How's this for some weekend riding weather? Saturday is looking great, but we're going to have to keep an eye on it cuz the winds could pick up.

    FRIDAY

Lots of sunshine and cool. Highs around 57. Wind N 6-12 mph.

    SATURDAY

Mostly sunny and becoming breezy. Milder. Lows north of the lake around 33 with frost and south of the lake around 38. Highs around 64.

    SUNDAY

Clouds and sunshine, breezy, mild, and a bit more muggy with a 20% chance for a shower. Lows north of the lake around 48 and south of the lake around 53. Highs around 70.

    ____

Man, I sure hope I can get these new Dunlops mounted and balanced before the weekend gets here?

    JB,

Thanks Man, It is good to be home.
I spent Thursday with my lovely wife, Brenda. Breakfast at Tiffin Inn and a little shopping at Lakeside. With lunch at Drago's, Love those Char Grilled ersters. Home in the evening by the fire with some of my famous Homemade beef vegetable Soup. I love this place.
What the heck is with the snow? Un freakin beleibable!! LOL Hope your weather gets here. I did get my Front tire changed at least. Lunch Saturday in Abita, sounds like it is on. Yeah Baby, Let's ride. I will ask my friend Todd to come with us. He rides a CBR1000RR. Where and when would you like to meet? I don't know where you live. So I am flexible. I live in Metairie near Lafreniere Park off of West Napoleon Ave. But I am thinking around 10 AM, ride through the rigolets into SLidell up US 11 to LA 41 to Talisheek from there to Abita Springs for lunch from there what ever. I have a small but handy GPS (Garmin Etrex Vista HCx). Although I grew up on the Northshore side(south of Bogalusa) and I know the roads fairly well. Did you talk to NolaVFR and see if he would like to join us? I will give you a call some time, today (Fri)
I saw the pics of your bike in your gallery, That red is awesome. I haven't seen one for real yet. I love those Pazzo Levers . They look sharp. Nice touch. I wanna pair. Did you get them locally or off the net?

    Hi Dan and JB.

I'm hoping that I can make it tomorrow. My wife is recovering from her surgery on Monday. I'll touch base with you guys later today. I have not been on my bike in over a week.

Dan does not know - I had a brain fart last weekend while trying to navigate between my wife's Explorer and my bike. Nudged the bike and it tipped over. Brake lever, mirror, upper fairing and lower fairing damage. I repaired(?) the upper (the top screw mount for the windscreed broke off) and I'm just ordering touch-up paint for the slight scratches on the lower. Ordered a new mirror and put the lever in my vise and pressed it back almost straight. JB is setting me up with his old lever.

I was on the phone with Boyce Honda ordering all new parts when I remembered I've done a similar moron move with my 07 CBR 1000 resulting in similar slight damage. I certainly don't expect to do this again, but the damage is so slight, I'll be the only person to notice it (at least that is what my wife says - heven't fully bought into the "only me" rationalization yet).

Anyway, the mirror should be waiting at Boyce.

JB, if it is still available, I'd like to pick up that lever today (I'm not sure I can trust an aluminum lever that has been bent twice now).

    Joe

    Yee-haw!!! Let's go!

Danimal, sounds like you're pumped up and ready to ride! Glad you're back! How bout' that snow, eh'?
I'm all in for the excursion tomorrow - the Abita Springs Brew Pub is on the map! I can meet up with you fellows anywhere. I'm out here in Metairie near the Jefferson Parish / Orleans Parish line, close to Metairie Rd. Just let me know what time you all want to meet up and where. (I might not be able to break away from here until 10am - no later than that, I promise. My boys are having breakfast with Santa Claus early in the am.)

NOLAVFR, we sure hope you can get out tomorrow Bro. I have that clutch lever parked in our mailbox for you, but if you prefer - when or if we meet up tomorrow morning, I'll bring it with me and we can swap that badboy out right then and there - just need to get a hold of a small metric wrench and a large flat-bladed screwdriver. Takes maybe 3 minutes tops to change.

Mdooner, keep an eye here on the thread. It looks like we've got something in the works. Stay tuned. Hey, what kind of motorsickle do you have? Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Tomorrow's weather is looking really nice so far, with maybe a little extra breeze in the mix - it's nothing that some decent aerodynamics couldn't take care of. The bottom line; it ought to be another excellent Saturday for riding.

Absolutely! Tell us about that sweet bike! How long have you been riding, where do you usually roll, any road trips on your bike that you've taken; that sort of stuff.

Ah, 5'oclock! Time to do some bike maintenance I've been neglecting.

So what's my story? I've been riding/racing motorcycles since I was 7 (am 24). Rode in the dirt only until I want to college at Tulane. One of my roommates decided he was going to get a sport bike and convinced me he wasn't going to survive too long on it. I picked up a used and farkled Ninja 500  to go ride with him and teach him a few things.

I got my VFR from my dad for my college graduation and he had it since he bought it new. I commute a lot, like to go play ride around here along the river levee and towards Raceland where I found a few curves. I've done a couple of trips to southwest florida (Naples) where I grew up, rode from LA to New Orleans last fall and rode New Orleans to North Carolina to Indianapolis and back for the MotoGP this year.

    Toll Booth Challenge.

Had a great time gentlemen! That was a great route Dan. We waited at the toll booth for you; unexpectedly, my bike layed down to take a rest. Do know that we would have stopped and waited for you at the southshore exit. No man left behind!

Well sheeeit! I suppose I had to lay the bike down sooner or later; it might as well have been in a toll booth, right? I set my left foot down in the oil slick, then that was all she wrote. The sole of my boot started to slide and I couldn't get my foot planted before the weight of the bike started to take over - left side down.

The damage really isn't all that bad, cosmetic, thank God. Joe, my clutch lever is bent, so I will be replacing that sucker due to the weight of the bike loosening and stressing it to the point that it doesn't even feel solid anymore. Looks like I better get creative with the touch-up paint too. In the meantime, I'll take some time to look for a professional that knows how to paint plastic motorcycle fairings. Dan, you said it, "it's unlikely to get a really good color match when it comes down to matching RED paint".

Matt, thanks again for providing the wrenches so that I could re-tighten the clutch-lever housing. Basic tools will now be carried at all times in my tankbag no matter where I go, whether it's a 5-minute or a 5-hour trip.

We're going to have to take another day trip again soon. The next time I go through the Causeway toll booth I'm going to dust the ground with kitty litter. Heck, I might even make it a ritual from now on.

That was a good relaxed ride.

JB. Let me get your lever back to you. Mine is working well. Also, you should check the clutch mount/housing to see if the recess that the lever fits into was stretched open. That might explain the feeling that it is not solid.

Good luck finding a good paint shop. You'll likely get what you pay for. Man...it really hurt seeing your bike on its side. A good paint guy can match the paint. I used to have a guy that could match pearl white paint (the three step paint process) perfectly. It can be done. If you replace the fairings, yo are probably looking at 800 - 1000 bucks.

Give me a call tomorrow and we can get the lever back to you.
