I'm new to this forum as of today.I owned a new VFR 1999(80 k).
I live in the southern part of Va.
I am thinking of getting either a 08 or 09 VFR,and was wondering is there's any difference between the two. One thing in particular would be engine mapping.I heard they've been improved/modified but I don't know what the last year this was done.
If someone could help with this info,I'd like to know....THX

All 6th Gen bikes are the same except for color. The only difference I am aware of is Honda improved the VTEC transition in 06.

    KC-10 FE out...

KC....Thx for the come back.I was offered a price from the dealer on a brand new 08,for out the door of $9800(I didn't ask but I assume it's without ABS).It sounds like a pretty good deal,I was thinking I'd like the ABS,but I also think this could be a bike that's calling me. FYI...I was a Life Support Tech...in Uncle Sam's glider club.....

The main difference is that the VTEC engagement was lowered from 7000 rpm to 6400 rpm starting with the '06 model. As far as what year to buy, I'd go with the best deal you can find. If you look hard enough, you can still find new late model bikes. There are still a lot of '07 models out there. Shop around.

That sounds a little high at $9800. I'd look for the 07' new like stewardj suggested. I've heard of brand new 07's selling for $7800. If $9800 works or you and you're not financing it then go for it! :thumb:

Color, color, and color!!! 07 sharp red(candy), '08 siver, think they call that one "sword"
and of course that sweet gloss black fo '09.

Just F.Y.I. I've got a dealership here in Denver that has an '08 ABS for $9100, no frieght ,handling, etc., just sales tax on top. They had a non-ABS that walked, taxes and all, for $9200.

Havn't done deckers as yet, but the "peak to peak highway" from Idaho Springs to Estes is one of my favorites in terms of pure landscape!

Yeah, the mentioned dealership is in Lakewood up the street from the BMW-Triumph dealership. There selling Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki now.

Funny, I spent my younger years in Fairfax, also in the 70's. The parents ran with the D.C. crowd. Glad to be in CO. The bike routes are extraordinary here.

Scratch the Yamaha from that dealer. It's getting late!

How's the the riding in VA.?

Monk...I was looking at both 08s and 09s and they are both the same bikes w/exception of color. Ultimately went with an 08 ABS model because I really liked the color and black is sooo hard to keep looking clean. It shows everything. Rode mine for the first time (following bringing it home from the dealer) this past weekend. It is sweet!! Good luck.

+1 RVFR, I gotta agree with him Monk, It would certainly be cool to hear "first response" '09 commentary, regardless of cost!

    (1) 93 (between boulder and Golden),take 46 W (Golden Gate Canyon Road),119 NW(right)take to Nederland.Pick up 72 NW,to T-Junction.left on 7 to Estes Park. Then if you want you can return home by going to lyons. But if you want to spend all day you can go over Trail Ridge Road(if open)and take it to Winter Park, and over to I-70 back to Denver.

(2)Take 285 out of Denver SW.and follow to 126 SE (left).(This is my fav.) It's called,Pine junction, through Pine, and Deckers. All the way to Colorado Springs, and then I return on the same road to Denver.Or you can shoot up I- 25 if it wore you out.Boring.........

Va. has nothing on Colo .....I liked that I could be on the mountain in 30 min from east Denver.

RVFR...That was my plan in the beginning....and got the offer on the 08 over the phone...I like the silver 08...but really want the ABS,I'll have to call them Tue to see if it has the ABS...If not I'll look for either a 08,or 09.....

DZ.....Being a retired skydiver makes me think "Drop Zone"....I agree black would be hard to keep clean, and all my riding gear is of the silver variety....I'll check around...Since I was told 9800 isn't that good of a deal with out the ABS....And with our "Obamanation" the way it is,I best get what I like before it's too late.....

I'd like to take a closer look at this one, as it may be the last of the VFR... One never knows huh?

Sorry, but the picture you posted is of a model only available over seas. Here in the US, its all black only. But I thought you knew that.
