I'm a little biased; therefore, I would probably recommend another Honda VFR. I've attached a link below, although the article is a little old, it is a revisit of the 1998-2001 Honda VFR800F 5th gen Interceptor models.

    http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/motorcycles/122_0604_honda_vfr800f_interceptor/index.html

Then, there's always the 6th gen... a little on the heavy side, but comfortable, dependable, and absolutely an awesome 'do-it-all' bike.

I'm a little biased too. After Sonny told me he put 110k on his, sold it two years ago and its still on the road, its hard to argue against theh VFR. Its about the best all around bike. If you're looking for a new one, I can set you up with Greg Bistes at Boyce Honda. He'll give you a fair deal and take care of you forever. I bought my 84 V65 Sabre from him used in 1990. Sold it didn't see him for 10 years and he remembered me and the bike when I got thhe itch and went back to him. I've bought six bikes from Greg.

Still working on making it Thursday. If I can I may have to bug out after dinner.

    Eh Joe,

Man, I'm not gonna make it tonight. We've got a baseball game, and I probably won't be getting out of there until after 6:30p. Will be riding tomorrow night though. Hope you can make that one.

    Talk to you soon Bro!

No worries. The event is scheduled for tomorrow, April 23rd - BOOMTOWN CASINO in HARVEY for 9PM.

We do need to figure out where we are going to meet on the Westbank though, as it is my understanding that we're probably going to chow down somewhere over there before we head to Boomtown. Send me a PM with your contact info and I'll be sure to do likewise, that way we can all get in touch before we meet up.

I'm going to try to get off early 4:00 head home and get the bike. I guess we can meet up on West Nap. and Causeway at the EXXON station about 5:15ish. Dinner well I dont' know the westbank good enough to find a good hole in the wall. How about Applebees I know it's not far from Boomtown. Ride well lets see if we need to head across the river and pick up divefr first. Maybe head down River Road. The roads maybe filled with people coming and going home from work, but we can give it a try. All ideas are welcome!

Brett I'll call you about noonish.

diveFR, this is what we ought to do. Tell me what you think of this. If there is any way that you could meet up with us somewhere over here on the Eastbank, another words, just cross the Crescent City Connection bridge and we will meet you just on the other side. Next, we can get in some riding time, as well as eat somewhere awesome over here. After all, the food is a hell of a lot better over here, and believe me, so are the riding conditions. Then finally, around 7:30 or 8pm, we can trek back on over to the Westbank and head to Boomtown.

Again, all you would need to do is hop on the Crescent City Connection, $1 at the toll booth, make your way to either one of the first few exits off the bridge; either St. Charles Ave. or Loyola Ave. exit, we will meet you and then we can all go from there. We can even cruise the Lakefront before dinner.

It'll be a lot more fun this way if we go this route; you can bet on that. Just let me know if this works for you.

    - JB

T, I will wait for your call around noon. Thanks

It was great to meet you Ski! Hopefully when you come down in May, you'll be able to stay long enough that we can make a run down to Cajun Country in Southeast Louisiana.

Kelli has me interested in renting some new movie material. She izzzz a riot!

Had a great time at Boomtown and rockin' with 'Weathered'!

    Keep in touch!

    P. S. Awesome bike Ski. You've gotta get some pics posted of that machine here on VFRW.

    Hey guys.

I gutted my exhaust today. Used the hole saw/dremel method. After riding with Dan yesterday, I decided I needed a louder/deeper tone. So I took a shot at the "gut" method figuring I'd get the aftermarket pipes if I did not like it. It sounds pretty damn good. I'll ride for a little bit to be sure. It seems that most of the guys that have done this on this forum are happy with it. Ya'll gotta hear it.

R dem pipez shootin' out flamez now?

Might have to look at this option. Dan says he can't hear my bike's engine or exhaust over cricket chirp.

The pipes have a nice deep bark now. You can HEAR the bike. I may leave it. The aftermarket pipes don't sound all that much better.

Anyone going to bike night tonight? Give me a call.

    JB & Joe,
the Carbon Fiber Pipes are 6 Kgs lighter than the original as well. Part of the reason i switched em. Next time we ride together we will beable to compare them sisde by side . which I was wont to do but never had the opportunity. looking forward to doing it now. I was too chicken to try what you did Joe. My concern for having metal filings in my exhaust may have not been logical But I was concerned about it. also have you ever touched your pipes right after you shut it off? you can hold your hand on the CF pipe it is barely warm. I really do like the CF look.
Ones that I had heard on You Tube sounded tinnier than the Aftermarket ones. but you cant trust the resolution of the sound on those recordings. Leo Vinces I had heard before did sound great but not obnoxious. we'll see. I'll give an honest open minded opinion when I hear Joe's
    quiet here in Singapore,
    Dan

    Howdy.

I was concerned about metal flying around and the possibility of some adverse result. No problem. I took the whole assembly off of the bike for the job. Did my best to clean it out before re-assembly.

I have not made up my mind yet. I'll give it some time and then make a decision.

Somehow, I think the heat shields are even hotter than before the procedure. I may end up with the Leo or Two Brothers pipes for that reason. Anyway, its good that people can hear me now. Like we've all observed, the guy on the bike next to you can't hear you with the stock pipes. All I wanted was more tone. I'm not looking for any more power. From what I've read, that all you get with this procedure.

Dan - good luck on your job.

    Joe

One of my friends made his own headers and bottom exit exhaust with a small glasspack muffler. He had to ride in the back for two days until his bike finished blowing all of the fiberglass out.

I'm not from Baton Rouge/New Orleans, but I visit both cities at least twice a year for various reasons. Work, play, friends, etc. Depending on the reason for the trip, I might be towing, but one of my bikes is coming with. I'll hit you guys up when I'm coming down next.

I was just down for JazzFest, and I know I'll be in Baton Rouge in September. I'm probably going to make a trip here in the next month or two.
