Seriously, my new bike goes through oil like my wife goes through a pizza.

do not see any oil spots from leaking, and the exost looks clean. am i losseing it or do i need to take this guy to court.

today it started making a ratteling noise when i slow down NOT pulling the clutch.

    no blue smoke?

how are you checking the oil level...i know this is elementary, bike should be straight up and off for at least 5 mins for it to collect in pan.

centerstand only...you probably haven't lost a drop. It won't even show up in the window on side stand.

even if measuring from the wrong spot, that same spot shows less oil after riding.

If you check on the side stand your overfilling and it will burn it if you don't blow a seal. Check on level ground strait up and remove any extra oil that's above the top mark.

Centerstand is best. otherwise it's a balancing act. Don't screew the dipstick in to check it.

Have you taken a peak inside your airbox?

as per the manufacturers recomendation, from the owners manual for the Gen6 (im not sure which you have, but there all pretty similar)

page 41. engine oil level check.

quote ' 2. Stop the engine and put the motorcycle on level ground on its centerstand'

check your owners manual for variations but if in doubt follow this one as a guide

    Yes, on the centerstand
as was said, you may actually be overfilling it on the side stand, then burning it off to the correct level, then refilling it too high again, then burning it off, lather, rinse, repeat

Probably blew out the breather into the airbox then sucked in the intake.

i dono, need to get the tank off and see if there is anything in it.

measuring it from the center stand showed no loss.

tightening the chain got rid of most of the noise. still makes a little noise when i slow down without the clutch.
