    Hey folks.

just to put up some better pics, i was recently asking about what fairings i have, and someone mentioned they're Targa fairings (just the red lowers):

    2009_11_20-15_54_40-007-ElectriceptorFairings-800.jpg 2009_11_22-07_48_20-001-Electriceptor-800.jpg 2009_11_20-15_54_00-006-ElectriceptorFairings-800.jpg

Also, the Nationals Fiberglass guy is still around (he's in Ohio: Phone: 330-762-4527), and can still make the fairings. I talked to him about them around late november 2009. Current cost is $250 + shipping. He said it's a "European F1 type" fairing. He sent me a pic which i'm including...

Note, the windscreen isn't made by Nationals, they pointed me at Gustafsson Plastics for that (supposedly $100, but i wasn't interested, so i didn't really look).

I bought a Gustafsson screen for my 500 racebike (RVF750 upper). Their quality is great and pricing is in line with other places.

Here are the Telefix lowers (sold by Spec II imported from Germany). I purchased them painted in 1988. The paint quality was great and the lines matched up nicely. With some attention to detail on the brackets and a little relief grinding around the radiator, they integrated very nicely.

Those are also Spec II slip-ons and Telefix Profi adjustable clip-ons. The bars fit great and don't hit the tank or the fairing.

Jamie - I have the dealer Hondaline catalogs from the 80's, and I don't remember any mention of the LP lowers as an accessory. Could it be that a lot dealers just ordered them from LP and installed them on new bikes?

    Cheers!
    Mike.

The upper fairing in that pic looks different then stock. It also looks like the side/full aftermarket fairig uses holes in that upper to attach itself.

Better ask that guy where that upper fairing is from.

For the record I had an Airtech full fairing that I bought off a member of this forum and it sucked! Looked awful.....didn't fit well at all.

Whoops! I forgot to mention that "the dude" (he called himself that...not me. :) ) from nationals fiberglass, said that their fairing a single piece (well, two sides that bolt together), that's both the lower and the upper headlight cowl all made together. It will replace the stock upper fairing/headlight cowl.

That's why he pointed me at the gustaffson's windscreen website since i think the stock one won't fit.

So $250 for the complete upper and side/lowers??

....and then you need to buy a windscreen and mirrors I assume also?

Yeah, i think that's about it.

Windscreen, yes. I don't think you need to buy mirrors necessarily 'cuz it looks like stock will work. You might need to get new turn signals, but i'm not sure about that.

$229 for the unpainted Spec II lowers?? That's more than the complete bodywork from National's Fiberglass... although you need a windscreen and shipping has to be added to the National's bodykit. I like the look of the VF500-F2, more so than a regular VF-500 upper with added lower fairings, but that's just my 2 cents. I bought a VFR750 tail from National's fiberglass and the quality, fit and finish were very good- I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Wish i knew thay made the F2 fairings before i bought a set from the UK many years ago. I've never seen a VF500 with the F2 Euro bodywork here- no one here in the US would have a VF-500 quite like it.

Would you happen to have detail photos of the mounting points for the Nationals Fiberglass full fairing (F2) kit - for the US spec VF500F?

Do you know if the stock fairing mounts need to be modified?

On a side note, are the Fiberglas fairings thicker/heavier than the OEM fairings - what is the finish/texture on the inside?

    Thx!

I don't have any pics of the Nationals Fiberglass full fairing (F2) kit... but when i spoke to the rep at National's, he said it required no modification of any kind, it bolted right up to stock mounting points on the US spec VF500. As far as thicker/heavier? i would say they are a little heavier and thicker, i didn't weight them, but not a whole lot more than oem fairings. Finish on the inside was fiberglass cloth, painted black, pretty neatly done, and relatively smooth- i would say a step above the quality of the few Airtech fiberglass pieces i've seen. This is based on a VFR750 tail section i purchased from them some years ago. They sell parts on Ebay , believe user name is glassndude.

Not a bother- thanks for the excellent write up on the CBR600F wheel swap... There was a VF500 racer Steve Scott- used to have a great VF500 modification page, 600F and F2 wheel swap info, wish i had saved it since it seems to be gone now. I remember him saying the F2 wheels weren't really practical on a street bike, he mounted the 600F wheels on his street bike... but had the F2's on his track bike.
