Don't pay anything for these magnets! They're expensive and there's a VERY easy place to get them. Computer hard disks have them. Just find an old hard drive (3.5 inch desktop drive, not laptop), take it apart. You should be able to locate the magnet just fine.

In fact. I have a stack of about 30 of them at work (I build computers for a living).

My work has no shortage of old HDDs, if anyone wants these magnets I'll strip them out of old HDDs if you like. Just pay me for shipping to your address.

I dont know why your using magnets, your body is more than enough to trigger these inductance loaded sensors, if you put both feet down then it will see you on even a insensitve light. my town has three lights that dont pick up my bike but they do pick me up, I even tried just standing on the sensor without my bike.

the sensors work by measureing the frequency shift of an object in a magnetic feild. so if the frequency is say 12MHz and your bike provides only a 15kHz deviation it might not trigger, but it may trigger at 18kHz. This is just a radio circuit, the magnets will help, but so would steel rims, having a steel shank (stiffener not blade) in your boots or even a full armored boot (nail proof).

I just got steel toed boots and only one skips me now and it only skips one cycle cause i just put the other boot down

That didn't work for me but neither did a BIG magnet just under the engine.

The Traffic Light Changer - For Any Motorcycle

They say they guaranteed it works, I might just give it a try, I have waited then ran the light when it was clear. "Officer, if the light doesn't work what do you expect me to do?" The gadget might stop a "discussion" of the subject.

Aluminum oil pan? SS exhaust? But a zip tie works, as I've done this for years. I use and old hard drive magnet.

Bikes fall victim to radar as easily as cars do, they can pick up a 95 mph fastball at a baseball game - they sure as hell can pick up a bike doing 140 mph down the freeway.

The reason that they are pushing for front plates - at least here in AZ - is because there are so many photo radar cameras set up and if the bikes plate is tucked into the wheel well or bent at a certain angle - still visible from dead center rear - the cameras can't pick them up. It's a known fact around here and bikers are doing it all the time, hiding their plates by special bends and placement on their bikes. Having a plate mounted on the front would eliminate that factor and prevent them from hiding their plate numbers. Personally I'm against the whole photo radar thing, I think it's a chicken shit way for the state/city/county to collect money without providing the motoring public an actual officer that could render assistance to those in need or disabled vehicles, as well as being able to visually see other more important offenses being committed such as road rage, aggressive or drunk driving. It also burns me that they use 3rd parties for the capture and collection of the speed infractions, and that most of them are not even U.S. companies. Sorry, way off subject here.

Back ON subject, I hardly ever encounter red lights at night as most of my riding is on the Loops or Interstates. HOWEVER, I did decide on Friday to enjoy a little bit of a different pace and took Brown Road off the 202 and then down Ellsworth to home and I was doing alright till I hit the light at Ellsworth and Main St. I sat there, by myself for 2 cycles... gently idling in nuetral and tapping the tank patiently waiting. It also happened that a Sheriff's Deputy was sitting in the Pizza Hut lot across the way with his radar gun pointed towards those exiting the freeway. Just my luck. I didn't want to turn right and then U-Turn at the freeway light cause it's not something I like to do, let alone that's where the deputy was looking. Finally a car pulled up behind me and the light did turn. Not sure if I buy the magnet thing 100%. There's all those gadgets and crap that people claim will increase power and fuel mileage that don't do crap, and it's such a gimme gimme world these days that everyone has an idea to make money of those gullible enough to buy it. But I will watch the video and look into it. I'm not a very patient person when it comes to traffic lights at a dead intersection.

It depends on your City, Your city must use the right system for the magnets to work.
There is probable a pamphlet or web page telling you how great the system is on your cities web site.

One added bonus of appearing larger.... Many computerized systems give priority to buses and other large vehicles. This is done because there start stop time is longer and can lead to congestion so it is set up so they flow through more often.
Must say I really like this idea as nothing is worse than sitting at an empty intersection, giving up and running the light or getting off your bike walking over to the cross walk and hitting the button....

[hijack] hey guys, we keep talking about the crosswalk button thing.
Not to hijack my own thread, but the same guy that made the video at the beggining of the thread has one about changing crosswalk lights too.

Make Traffic Lights Change!! Amazing! - Video

    hahha.

there is also one for elevators. I will find it and post it if someone asks.
