Just out of curiousity I want to know how many of you attempt to come to a complete stop at stop signs without putting your feet down at all or at least until the bike has stopped moving completely? Another thing I sometimes do is when I am approaching a red light is that I come as close to a complete stop as possible about 15 feet behind the line and then try to balance the bike at a snail's pace until the light turns green. I am sure on occasion this has looked pretty comical to the person who is behind me  but I think it has helped my riding over the years.

Anyone else play these silly little balance games?

My latest game is seeing how far I can roll off my trailer backward in neutral before having to put my feet down (this one has disaster written all over it )

funny chit with the harley rodeos. Funniest one I saw was dude had to ride with the bitch on the back and they rolled up on a hot dog suspended by a string. The idea was for the bitch to grab the hot dog with her mouth and just roll thru the course. Good to see some blow job talents not going to waste. Guess I am a bit of a chauvonist pig today, sorry. NOT..>CHEERS anyway

you bet. I always try to keep from putting my feet down. Even at stop signs, I'll try to complete stop and then go without putting my feet down. I've wondered if a cop saw me if he'd have an easier time claiming I didn't complete stop.

I do the barely moving at stop sign/light myself. Helps with keeping balance during other riding. Getting to know your bike makes one a better rider.

I usually click down thru the gears letting them slow the bike down until I get to nuetral and just coast up to the light. Maybe thats why my clutches last as long as they do. I still have to watch my mirrors so I dont get punted thru an intersection by some inatentive cager. Been doing that for 25 years or so and 200,000 miles.

Friend of a friend years ago allmost failed his riding test at the DMV because he could balance so well. Cop told him he failed cause he didn't come to a complete stop at the sign. When asked how this was determined the cop replied "you didn't put your feet down". Guy on the bike, standing still, talking to the cop, said "what, you mean like now" Cop looks and sees him still at a dead standstill with both feet on the pegs, had to eat his words and pass the guy!!

I see how far I can get with stopping at stop signs before i need to put my feet down. My record so far is 2.3 miles with 8 stops! :heh: I only do this in the early morning with no traffic around. Gotta pay attention to the road with the crazy midday traffic or you get dead around here...

Well I think we all play the no feet down game...

    what others?

The don't use breaks to slow down for stops game?
The weave between the dashies(not that i have ever done this officer)?
The not look at my speed for a bit and see if it's the same after 60 seconds?
Accelerating without looking at the speedo and seeing when you think your at speed?

Sure you have more to add!

i did get caught doing this once. i told the officer i was practicing, which i was. he let me off but told me to drive safe. the way i figure if i can dodge those easially, when somethign falls off of a truck in front of me, or a critter runs out, ill hopefullly be able to dodge it as well.

dono if i works, but its still fun

Yeah, I do the slowing to a crawl for stop signs.

Did that at a weird, narrow junction - it had a speed bump right up to the edge of the junction and the 'kin speedbump had a real steep camber on all four sides. I'm a shortass - feet are flat on the floor on the level but at this junction the front wheel was on the bump and the rear on the road, so the ground clearance was increased by about three inches.

Came to a dead stop - put my feet down and hit empty space.

    CRASH!

Over went the bike onto it's side - me still half sat on it.

Felt a bit of a twat...

and tend to avoid that junction. They're not light bikes to pick up, are they?
