I broke the starter button on my 84/85/86 VF500F today and need a replacement. I'd rather not buy the whole pod if I can help it. Not sure if any other 1st gen starter buttons fit it or not, but I'm open to that too.

Maybe you bought a used right side pod and only needed some other parts from it?

So....who wants to play "junk drawer bingo"? Do we have any takers?

    Thanks-

Let me dig through my boxes-o-spares and see if I can come up with something. Which bike is this for? I don't know about the right side but I do know the left side pods have different connectors for '84 and '85.

Gen 3 and up will bolt on and plug in with no mod's. Much better part, best to make the change now.

It's for my 84 model, but I figured they were all the same...And I don't need the whole thing with the pigtail plug connector...I only need the small starter depress button itself.

I found one spare but the starter switch has already been replaced with a toggle switch. I'll keep looking if you really want a VF500 one. Personally, I'd make the jump to something newer.

If you're saying you replaced the starter switch (the RUN/OFF rocker switch), I don't need that part. I need the starter button...the small button you push to actually start the bike right below the starter switch. If you still have that from this Frakenstein'ed switch pod, then we're in bid-ness if it's for a VF500F (trying to keep it as original as possible since it's lo-miles & all).

A slight detour from wgregt's request for a VF500F push button for the starter motor...but to confirm the OEM part number for the control upgrade is 35130-MZ7-670 (VFR750 1990-1997) correct?

    Thx!

Below are a series of photos of right hand control from a '91 VFR750F.

Perhaps someone who has a VF500F control handy on the workbench can add a few photos to compare the two...

PS I'm still looking for a VF500 starter button (good) or RH module (better?) in case anyone has one. I have bought two recently, and both of them had starter buttons that had the little pegs broken off (which you cannot tell until you take it apart, apparently).

Bummer. I haven't checked, are these controls NLA from Honda? Perhaps, David Silver Spares has one, if you are looking to keep your bike bone stock.

On a side note, if I could ask, would you mind posting a few detail photos (internals and connectors) of the VF500F control as a comparison to the '91 VFR750F control shown above?

I don't know about availability from Honda-San. I saw that they were like $75 or so, I think. I really only need the button, like I posted earlier. Hate to spend $70 if I don't HAVE to.

I'll take some fotos in a bit...

I checked Service Honda's online website and sure enough part no. 35130-MF2-P00 is $75.19 (retail is $99.78).

David Silver Spares (my go to source) has these listed for $39.73. Shipping from the UK to NYC is very reasonable. If you are in a pinch I'm happy to relay the parts to you via USPS to save on shipping from the East to the West coast.

Not sure whether these will fit, could be they will.

One caveat is that the VFR control (shown above) does not have a threaded mount for a mirror. Not a deal breaker if modifying the fairing or using bar end mirrors, but for those wanting to keep their bike stock this control may not be the best fit.

I am pretty sure I still have the entire right hand control from my old 3rd Gen (1993)

Let me know if you want me to look for it and I'll dig it out of the garage.
