The color is actually a blue, but it does look black. I replaced a busted left mid cowl on my 93 with a new one from a 92. It says its a Granite Blue Metalic, but I swear it looks black.

Interesting, I just took off my entire front faring assembly to get at my spark plugs, and I noticed the backs were blue in color...But under my saddle there is a sticker with the color code which reads Pearl Black 0620 or something like that. I m thinking Honda used the darker color farings and sprayed over.

Ok, here we go...the black color is a combination of two colors read this:

1992 VFR750F (RC36) Overview: No major changes except cosmetics. U.S. Honda went to black with purple/silver stripes and silver wheels (actually the black is a really, really dark green with a black flip-flop translucent coat and blue pearl on top of that).

I really love this color on my bike...But I had to remove the odd purple decals. Looks much better I think.. Cheers

    Granite Blue Metallic

Just repainted my '92 using OEM colors, and the color is officially Granite Blue Metallic. Most folks think it's black, but when you get it in the sun and look from the right angle, there is some "blue tinted" metalflake in the black.

Hey Betarace- Are you tracking your VFR? How is that? I am thinking about trying to get started. What should I be prepared for? What do I need besides money?

My 93 is blk with silver decal with purple stripes. The purple is gay as hell... I am about to sand all of it down and primer it to get ride of the purple junk.

Mine was originally black/blue as well; too many idiots refused to see or hear me.
thus the Corvette Competition Yellow with the 2Bros full system...
    Problem solved.

If you're looking for stock, you can always go up and order through Ron Ayers Motorsports (Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories). Locate the online fiche under "OEM Parts" for the 90-93 / 3rd gen and drill down into body work. Not cheap, but guaranteed to be the absolute best fit and quality - direct from Honda. There are some other vendors who are making aftermarket even for the 3rd gen - do a search through the forums - someone posted on this very subject fairly recently. But there may be some retro-fit work associated with that.
Good luck - let us know how it tunrs out.

Get stock fairings from Service Honda; better prices for OEM than Ron Ayers.

As for the 2Bros full, good luck with that. Due to their age, all I've seen are slip-ons. You might have luck with ebay though.

I have a full 2Bros C2 system on my '92, but I bought it direct from them 12 years ago. They dropped the third gen VFRs completely five or more years ago it seems.
I think eBay is your only bet, unless you can find one off a salvage somewhere. Good luck
