I drop my bike quite regularly. I find cursing helps. As long as my drop count is less than Randy's I'm ok.

:hss: PLS, how in the hell did you do that ????? sTepped in fluid at a light ??? We have all done it, and don't believe someone that says they haven't. Have to admit, here we go-------------the 1st month before I lowered my bike, just got doin this great job in my buddies condo parking spot installing that red reflective tape to my wheels, all done perfect and backin out of his parking spot , glanced a metal pole with my right turn signal with my left leg extended forward and fell right the fuck over. Think I was pissed????????--- this bike is perfect(was) cost me 2 bones to have the front and left fairing re-painted. Lesson well learned, look whats behind you before backing up. nuf said--- just thinkin about it made me pour a glass of Black label on the rocks --CHEERS

Well at least y'all walked away!

I picked up a damaged Ducati Hypermotard two years ago with 6 miles on the ODO. It was crashed on the way home from the dealer and the rider bought the farm.:frown:

Marrib, it was an awesome, spirited ride, and I loved it =) So much fun. I didn't know about the Vulture Mine until this ride, and OMG, it was incredible to be able to push my bike to its speed limits. And yes, it did get to 151mph. Crazy!!! As for the 'mad skillz' - I don't know about that... ;P I will post the videos though. You should post yours too, Marrib, cuz that was some faaassstttt and furious riding in those 20mph curves. It happens & I now how it feels. Especially if you have had to scrape the cash together. I've seen so many bike go over for different reasons. I've had a couple of Beemers with retracting side stands that would just throw your bike on the ground & Guzzi's with side stand lean so far over....
Make you feel better, I had a new Kawasaki Z650 in 1981 & you had to pull the clutch in to start it, no cut out switch in those days. Imagine my surprise when I started it, revved it & popped the clutch & my pride and joy took off down the road without me.

I know what you mean by a "bad spell" or something hanging over you. I think it happens when you pony up for a nice bike. I am so used to riding crap that I was actually nervous of my bike, like riding a bike that didn't belong to me. I had my bike for less than a hour when I put a huge crack in the side cover/seat plastic. I was sick until I figured "if that's the worst it gets, then that will be good." By the way, that anniversary paint scheme is fantastic. It looks almost as good as my yellow Viffer.

Thank you. I agree. I was saving for mine for over a year, every month sacrificing all the girly stuff I could buy, to put money away for my VFR... Then, after I got it, I felt just like you - what a bike, so perfect, and it's... mine? It felt, indeed, like something that almost didn't belong to me, especially after moving up from my EX500. So, after you add up all the waiting, saving, nervousness, and excitement, it feels like such a HUUUGGGEEE deal to hurt it. More so, if it happens couple times in a row, and you feel like the biggest idiot in the world.
I'm really happy that I started this thread, and had other VFR owners share their horror stories. It helped me soooo much to get over it. I accept that it happened, and my KPTAN is wearing his battle wounds with pride. One day I will fix it, but I'm not worried about it anymore. Instead, I just freakin enjoy the hell out of riding it, and love it more, and more every day. What a bike!!!

Way Cool! Funny, I remember seeing taunts to Bruce (Marrib) in a post, that he "rides like a girl". Well lif you're the example of how a girl rides, then I think that was a complement!

    Cheers
