Put in a new fuel filter and realized that it would only flow gas for a few seconds before it turned into a trickle.

This would explain my shitty idle especially when the bike gets hot.

How do you clean out the fuel/gas cap vent?

You really need to get a manual--there is no vent in the fuel cap, nor would you want one, especially in the event of an accident and getting fuel all in your crotch, etc.

Nevertheless there is an air vent tube on the bottom of the tank that may have a rubber hose leading to an evaporative cannister, or may be open ended. If open ended then dirt dobbers may have plugged that line and the tank won't vent.

So when you did this, you had the fuel line disconnected from petcock? On your bike you have a nipple under the tank that has a thoughtful little honda-think rubber conudrum that theoretically would catch any errant petrol that over flows during a fill up. I dont think thats your problem though. Whats the fuel pump sound like? It should pulse with an audiable noise as well as being able to feel the pulse when you lay your hand on it.

We want a full report yah know!!!

I have a manual and the fuel cap must vent. When a fully enclosed container (sealed) holds a fluid, in order to pour out this fluid the remaining volume must be replaced with air. If there was no vent, nothing would flow out at all.

For example, Next time you drink something use a straw. Suck up fluid with straw and replace mouth with finger. You will notice that the fluid in the straw stays in the straw when holding your finger over the top of the straw even though the bottom of the straw is wide open. Release finger from straw and fluid flows out. Same happens with your fuel tank. If the cap doesn't vent, no fuel flows.

Yeah, I call that the overflow funnel. Catches fuel if you overfill. That's free and clear. Fuel pump sounds good, when I have my aux. fuel tank hooked up I can literally see it pumping and I tested it per the manual and it flows within spec. Fuel pump is good.

I took off the fuel cap and cleaned the shit out of it with some carb cleaner. Let it soak and rinsed. Installed and fuel flows steady and strong now. Culprit, clogged up fuel cap.
