    evening all

just wondering if anyone in our part of the world has contemplated any aftermarket rear shocks or getting the front end worked (revalving, emulators) over by one of the suspension specialists like Frank Pons etc.

I find the front end reasonable at present, the rear shock so so (maybe i need a bit more time to re aquaint myself with a larger/heavier bike. My other bikes are a cagiva Raptor, a Honda 650 Bros, a honda 400/4 & a Honda XBR 500)

I am finding the current rear shock settings great for two up riding, but cannot get it set up to suit riding solo (only had the bike for 1500ks - it has only travelled 20,000, so the shock shouldn't be too rooted) Maybe I need a few more ks on it & a bit more fiddling to get the solo set up right - but I think the spring rate may be the culprit here)

Anyone put a differing weight spring on the standard shock ? (I am 70kg, with the missus on board, we weigh 120kg)

    I am contemplating a Nitron or Penske shock - prolly a round 550 - 650 each

Jamie Daughtery can rebuild your stock shock and put a heavier spring on it. I think the price would be very attractive compared to what you would pay for an aftermarket.

I am currently having him revalve and respring my forks. He is modifying a CBR929 shock for me as well (replace the spring, revalve and modify to fit the 5th gen VFR). He does ship inter-nationally.

There are quite a few of us in Oz who have had aftermarket shocks & front forks worked on. There are a number of places you can go to, who you choose depends on your location I guess.

I'm in NSW, so I was thinking one of the companies out west (Pons is in Smithfield I think), Terry Hayes is at Penrith or Campbelltown (can't remember which)

what pathway did you go with your front end ? plug in emulators (GoldVAlve?) or did you have the shim stacks altered ?

I am leaning towards the Nitron for the rear shock choice

put the race tek gold valves in - Brilliant - less dive, stronger, "fuller" damping response, no "seesawing" after hitting large bumps, less weave from bump deflection mid corner

have now ordered a Nitron Shock from the UK to sort the rear out

Terry Hayes is in Penrith as far as I know. (Shock Treatment I think it's called)

I got a Wilbers rear shock & had the forks done (can't recall what was done now...) by S O S Suspension (Sean O'Sullivan), he's also in Penrith.

I very nearly bought the Nitron shock. It is a beautiful-looking piece of kit.
