Cousin donated me his bike and mentioned it had been laid down. Replaced batter and confirmed it is working and after searching discovered this wrapped in electrical tape under the ignition.

Anyone have any information on this part and if it is replaceable? Or will I need to find an entire new ignition setup?

    Bike info for reference:

Thanks from a new owner! :)

It is part of the the ignition switch and is not serviced on it's own. Are the mounting points damaged?

darn! yes, that front clip that you can see in the pic with the circle is broken. it wont stay locked in place anymore. I tried firmly pressing it in there to see if the dash would light up but no luck :(

would i need to purchase a whole setup (key to wires) or can the bottom half be found so i do not need another set of keys? Also will other models interchange with my bike?

Can't be $50 to send that to the US.
At a push I could buy it then ship it to you at cost.

finally got it running, just had to pop in the new ignition (which was super easy for my dumb self) and add some new gas. Does it sound okay, didn't want to take it for a spin just yet. Also since it has been dormant for a couple of years I was planning an oil change, any recommendations on the best?

Let me know what you think!

Sounds just as it should. I use Spectro Gold in both my bikes in the specified weight. Never any issues. Before riding check clutch fluid and brake fluid (Front and rear for brakes) and also proper functioning of them. nothing worse than getting on your new to you bike and finding out the d@#! brakes aren't working correctly! (don't ask me how I learned this). Good luck!

thanks for the oil suggestion and tips! i have the repair manual so i will probably go through most of the major points and make sure everything is in order. no sense creating more danger for myself.
