I'm in Golden! I'm not sure what my schedule will look like over the summer, but I'll keep tabs on this thread. It'd be fun to get a few vfr's together!

Thought I would post this here not getting much response from Denver area folks.

Hello, just picked up a new to me 2003 Honda VFR800 and want to make a few chenges. I'm new to the street, but have been riding dirt for years so I have experience...just not much on the pavement.

I'm 6' 2" and feel like I want to lower my pegs, raise my bars and find a better seat and that is probably all I will do for now. So iI thought I would give a shout out to the community and see if anyone has already done these mods...and can I set on your bike? I have been looking at Heli Bars, Convertibars and Spiegler, anyone have any experience with these?

For peg lowering I have been looking at Peg Blocks here. Peg Lowering Blocks - Bargain Finder - VFR Discussion

The Sargent seat looks like the best option but like to set on one and I'm open to options as well.

Question, what happens a 7,000 rpm that makes this bike really move? At lows rpms it is fairly docile but when it hits 7k, wow!

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Dan

welcome to the forum Dan. Wished I would have seen your post sooner.

I have the Heli bars, stock pegs, and still fighting the OEM seat. However, I would recommend using a local upholsterer to fit the seat to your ass as opposed to buying another "one size fits all" seat. The pricing is competitive with the aftermarket seats and the workmanship is great.

I've used Steve Gowing in Fort Collins and been pleased with his work along with hearing great reviews from others. He does all the recovers for the local used dealers. There are other good shops around CO as well but Steve is the only one I know of.

tinkerin, cool someone from Colo replied. I will be putting on the Heli's this weekend, hope it makes a difference. I think I will wait on the peg blocks until after I do the bars.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread but I just upgraded my F4i to a RWB 07 VFR and I'm looking to see who's around and would like to ride / help me learn more about my new bike.

    I could try

Hi. I got my 06 1 year ago, which I've done a few things to (HID's, LiFe battery, cig lighter adapter, rectifier, etc.). Where are you located?

I'm downtown near the REI which is a great location for everything but working on cars and bikes (in a parking garage). My understanding is most things that matter other than the ECU are similar across the 02-09 models. I would definitely like to install a usb plug / lighter adapter and might be interested in doing HIDs. I'm picking up a MRA touring windscreen, a Sargent seat, and Leo Vince carbon fiber pipes later today. Also thinking about convertibars and adjustable foot pegs but I'm going to see how the seat and windscreen help first. Where are you located?

I got a touring windscreen and Sarg seat too. Not sure if the screen does that much, but only because I put it on shortly after getting the bike. I do like the Sarg though. I'm in Englewood but still pretty close to Denver. What are you trying to resolve? I found that the ergonomics felt a bit off when I first got it but was also going from a KLR to this and after getting used to it I've found that I can ride for a good 200 miles before getting uncomfortable. I could only do 100 or so on the KLR.

Well I'm installing the MRA touring windscreen and the Sargent seat today as those are very easy. I would like to install the Leo Vince CF pipes as well but that may get pushed back. Do you have a garage and tools? I'm in a big parking garage so that makes it a pain to work on vehicles.

Thanks for the invite Tiutis. I'm supposed to be mountain biking in the AM and then heading to a concert at Red Rocks tomorrow early evening. What time are you thinking you'll ride?

I'm heading out right now to test the new to me Sargent seat and MRA windscreen. I'll probably just run up to Morrison and play around there for a bit. Scrubbing in a new set of tires as well.

    My number is 9O8-Three1O-1O66.
