He's already convinced, he's ridden my bike a couple times. He loves it more than his Harley, he just can't afford another payment and doesn't want to part with the Harley

He may not be able to be saved. Buy him a pink snuggie with the bar and shield on it and hope for the best.;)

Billy, I have two ideas on how we can make $$$ from these Harley fools:

    1) Chrome-walled tyres

    2) Official H-D branded Viagra/Cialis

Harley has finally bought the rights to one of the products featured on Sweethogs.com. The fringed condoms that have "LARGE" printed on them. IMO these will go great with the Viagra/Cialis thing.

I spoke with the owner of Sweethogs and his wife and they are doing well. The condoms actually come in six sizes and the really little ones are made by a company whose main business is making finger stalls.

Late in the game but I MUST take a stab at this.

I like the H-D Sportster Dark. That's it. I like that their bikes are low maintenance. But I really can't stand the attitude of H-D dealers and their clients. I also can't stand that H-D is all about appearances and ZERO performance on their bikes. And people dig that about them! I don't get it!

But most of all, I hate that Harley killed Buell. I owned a Buell XB12R with the aircooled V-twin engine and loved that bike. I now own a Buell 1125R with the Rotax liquid cooled V-twin (so much better). Harley did EVERYTHING they could to stamp down Buell and basically just ignore the sportbike market. Because of all the above, I will never buy a H-D motorcycle. They don't make anything with performance enough to entertain me anyway.

Erik Buell had so many brilliant, innovative ideas. He was very foolish to ever think that H-D was going to support him.

I too loved the XB12 and the 1125R is a superb piece of machinery (except for that little issue of the electrical system crapping itself after so many miles...).

A share of the fault goes to the dealers too. Especially those in "cowboy" country for some unfathomable reason were talking smack that Buells weren't "real" Harleys.

Another Buell mistake by The Company was not letting him run their superbike program that went tits up.

All the more reason to buy one, IMO. The worst thing about the H-D era Buells was that they had those shitty Hardley motors in them. They should have been fitted with Rotax powerplants rights from the start. Hell, if Erik Buell had teamed up with KTM, imagine what firebreathing monsters would have resulted!

Erik was naive to think that America would support a domestic sport bike.

I don't hate Harley but some Harley owners have a complex or act like they do. I am actually considering a Harley because I want a cruiser along with my VFR since I am giving my 94 Suzuki VS800 Intruder to my MC. Below is a pic of a Harley I am looking at, but I am also considering a Suzuki M50 which would be a lot cheaper. There is also a Yamaha Raider I have been checking also. Gotta sell the R1 so I can get the cruiser

According to the "official" story, Buell was an engineer for HD. At first they sold him engines.. (guessing they were crated and used as is) then the stock thing came into play and they bought him out percentage wise hoping the company and the dealers could take over. He got fucked and the whole thing went awry.

With the excepting of just a few, top management of HD is a shrewd bunch. The company has been in biz for over 100 years and they will take anyone to the cleaners. We might even say that the customers come first..

The 1125R (Rotax motor) on the 2009 Buells had increased their stator output. That increased output created more heat that the oiling system could not cover. Thus, the stator would go if the motor ran too hot too often (like in traffic in hot weather). The fix is actually available via Erik Buell Racing (yup, he's been back since 2012). The stator needs to be replaced with one that has more oiling circuits. The 2008 and 2010 model 1125R's are pretty reliable. Hell even the XB12R's were reliable too up to a point. My 2008 has been incredibly reliable (knock on wood) even after over 30k miles. Anyway, Erik Buell Racing is about to release the 1190RX in December for $18k. Yes. It has the bored and stroked Rotax motor putting out 185 bhp, weighing in at 440 lbs. He's taking on Ducati. Yippeee~! Great companion bike to the VFR! Screw H-D! :tongue-new:

Rotax is Austrian. Some of the early engines were aircraft rated. Wait till HD starts having their engines made in China.. I feel a new word coming on "Chopper+Sooey" .
